Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy

Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to

receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into

my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and

unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be

separated from You.

Amen.

Pray for our Recently Deceased:

MaryAnne Rosello

Please keep the families of those listed above in your

prayers.

Prayer to Saint Joseph

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.

Amen.

St. Thomas Schedule for Lent

Ash Wednesday February 17 (Fast & Abstinence)

8:30AM: Mass & Ashes (Livestreamed)

12Noon: Service for Receiving Ashes

4:00PM: Children’s Service for Receiving Ashes

6:30PM: Mass & Ashes

“The Little Black Books” are available this Lenten Season. These 6 minute meditations can be your companion for Lent this year. Please pick one up at the entrance and exit of the church.

A MASS will be celebrated EVERY TUESDAY

EVENING during Lent at 6:30pm, (beginning on

Feb. 23rd) followed by the Rosary for Peace.

CONFESSIONS will be heard every Wednesday

evening during Lent starting on February 24th. The

time of confession will be announced.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS - Friday evening at

7:00pm in the Church during Lent, beginning on

Feb. 19th.

Ash Wednesday Reminder:

“In the Diocese of Camden, as in the Church

universal, Ash Wednesday is to be observed as a day

of penance, fasting and prayer. As a day of fast and

abstinence, Catholics from the age of 18 to the age of

60 are bound by the mandate to fast; Catholics over

the age of 14 are seriously bound to observe the

abstinence from meat.

Lenten fasting allows for a single “normal” meal.

Sustenance through the day is permitted but the

quantity of food for this sustenance is not to equal or

exceed the amount of food taken in the single normal

meal.”

Distribution of Ashes

(per the Diocesan Guidelines)

Given the spread of the coronavirus, we will be taking

special precautions this year when distributing ashes dur-

ing Ash Wednesday. The priest will give a general

blessing over the ashes as usual and then pronounce

over the gathered assembly the formula “Repent, and

believe in the Gospel’ or “Remember that you are dust,

and to dust you shall return”. The ministers then cleanse/

sanitize their hands and, wearing masks, impose ashes

without saying anything. The faithful, wearing masks, will

approach the ministers and bow slightly as the ashes

are sprinkled over their heads.

Lenten Night of Recollection

Thursday, March 4th 7:00pm

This year, Msgr. Michael Mannion will be giving our annual Lenten Night of Recollection. It will be held on Thursday, March 4th at 7:00pm. Since this is the Year of St. Joseph, Msgr. Mannion will be speaking about St. Joseph. He will also give us some helpful suggestions on “How we can cope during the pandemic”.

Spring Will Be Here Soon! Garden Permit Program Now Available

Gardening – The Healing Power of Nature

Research shows that digging in the earth’s soil is soothing, comforting and peaceful. When planting seedlings, cultivating the ground, and nurturing flowers, we experience happiness from our fruitful labor. Each year we plant gardens knowing when the first frost comes the flowers will die. However, we have hope because in the spring we will once again plant flowers. The cycle of life mimics the cycle of nature. The loss of a loved one changes lives; however, gardening may be a therapeutic option that provides hope. The mission of South Jersey Catholic Cemeteries is to not only to bury and pray for the dead, but also to comfort and console those grieving. Consider signing up for our Garden Permit Program; now available at all cemeteries managed by the diocese. To learn more visit SouthJerseyCatholicCemeteries.org or call 800-594-4980 and a member of our staff with gladly help you.

The Women's Club

A caring community of Christian Women within our Church

The Women’s Club invites all the ladies of the parish to attend our Night of Reflection on February 24

th

at 6:30 p.m. in the Church. Social distancing protocols will be followed and face masks will be required. Our guest speaker is Joan Dollinger who addressed us at a previous Night of Reflection and was extremely well received. We hope the same will be true this year.

Technology Ministry Launch

St. Thomas the Apostle Church is pleased to announce the formation of a new Technology Ministry. The primary mission of the Technology Ministry is to evangelize our faith and reach our parishioners through the use of technology. Lead-ing this effort, is Technology & Media Coordinator, Jennifer Sigmund. “As coordinator, I will serve as the liaison for all the parish media outlets. I will be developing a communication plan and address any issues that arise related to media or technology use. I will also develop a technology education pro-gram to allow all users to have the knowledge to access our digital platforms. “

As well as utilizing technology during Mass, the Technology Ministry supports other parish minis-tries and events such as lectures and parish meetings. Have a question, want more information, please contact Jennifer at [email protected].

Registration for the 2021-2021 school year has begun!

Many classes are almost at capacity, so please reach out

to Cathryn Flammer ([email protected]) as soon

as possible if you are interested in enrolling your children

into our school! We are proud of the Catholic education

offered at ARCS and providing a space where our students

are encouraged to create, inspire, and nurture an environ-

ment that embraces Gospel values. Please check us out!

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten Season, a

time of spiritual preparation for welcoming Jesus Christ into

our lives in a new way at Easter. At school we will be

focusing on the three practices of Lent: prayer, fasting, and

almsgiving.

School is closed tomorrow, February 15, for the celebration

of Presidents’ Day!

Thank you for your continued support of our school com-

munity! We could not do what we do without your support!

Many blessings,
