“Three things are necessary for salvation of man: to know what he ought to believe; to know what he ought to desire; and to know what he ought to do.” –St. Thomas Aquinas
Our Pastoral Care Department offers a number of
opportunities to do for others in our parish. I am certain we can find a place for you! Here are a couple of exam-ples:
Atria Delmar Place ~ We offer two services a week ~ right down the street! Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. is a Ro-sary and Communion Service (about 30-40 minutes) and Sunday at 10:45 (about 20 minutes) is a Communion Service. Scheduling is about once every 4-5 weeks. Training is provided. The residents greatly appreciate the services. Let Maura know if you would be interested in joining either of these teams.
Hospital Visitation Ministry ~ We have an active group of ministers who provide supportive visits to our parishioners while hospitalized. Scheduling is about one time every 5 weeks or so, working around your sched-ule (day, evening, weekend). We could use a few more volunteers, or those willing to act as a substitute now and again. Contact Maura to learn more about becoming in-volved in this group.
Parish Pals Phone Ministry ~ If you know someone who would benefit from engaging in a friendly call from a parishioner, let Maura know. We have a team of people who are happy to reach out in an effort to continue one’s connection to the parish community.
Upcoming Meetings: The Bereavement Support Group ~ for those who have lost a spouse during the last two years, will meet on Mon-day, January 27 at 6 p.m. in the parish office. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in joining this group, please contact Maura. One must be registered in order to participate.
The Knitting, Quilting & Crocheting with Love Team ~ will meet on Tuesday, February 4 at 2 p.m. in the Gathering Hall. Please bring anything you are work-ing on. All are welcome!

“What is involved in the creation of “a better world”? The expression does not allude naively to abstract notions or unattainable ideals; ra-ther, it aims at an authentic and integral devel-opment, at efforts to provide dignified living con-ditions for everyone, at finding just responses to the needs of individuals and families, and at en-suring that God’s gift of creation is respected, safeguarded and cultivated.” (Pope Francis)
The Kenyan water project funded by St. Thomas
the Apostle parishioners is “creating a better
world” for the families who utilize it daily. Tess Crick of
The Water Project.org has notified The St. Thomas Crea-
tion Care Team that the water in the project the parish
funded is flowing. She wanted parishioners to know
they have made a significant difference in the lives of
people thousands of miles away. To read about what
the water projects sponsored by St. Thomas and other
benefactors mean to the people of Kenya, go to our St.
Thomas website, and read the full story under the Crea-
tion Care Team tab.
