Being overcome by His light is the greatest gift we can hope to receive. The greatest sacrifice we can make to Him is the total gift of self just as we are. God would like the sacrifice of our hearts; “This one thing He can only have if it is freely given to Him: the undivided love of man.” ~ A Devotional Journey into the Mass

Jesus asked, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” Paul replied, “Who are you, sir?” Jesus responded, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting” (Acts 9: 4 – 5). Jesus then sent Saul into Damascus to wait for further Instructions. Saul was shaken and blinded by the experience. When a Christian named Ananias came and baptized Saul, his blindness went away. As a result of this encounter Saul became a follower of Christ. Litany of Pro-Life Saints Part Two

Below is the second half of the pro-life Litany that appeared in last week's bulletin. This Litany was taken from the Catholic Link website. To view the full Litany of Pro-Life Saints, go to https://catholic-link.org/a-litany-of-pro-life-saints-for-may/

St. Margaret of Antioch, who upon refusing advances of a pagan man was charged with being a Christian and imprisoned, and who is the patroness of pregnant women and childbirth, pray for us and the most vulnerable, especially the innocent in most need of help.

St. Philomena, who was martyred at the age of thirteen as a perpetual virgin after opposing Emperor Diocletian’s marriage offer and who is patroness of children, pray for us and the vulnerable, especially the innocents in impossible circumstances.

St. Maximillian Kolbe, a priest who volunteered to die in place of a stranger at Auschwitz and who is patron of the unborn, pray for us and the most vulnerable, especially those discriminated against because of prejudice or politics.

St. Elizabeth, who gave birth to John the Baptist despite being deemed infertile and who is the patroness of pregnant women, pray for us and the most vulnerable, especially those struggling with health or family issues and in need of a miracle.

Blessed Miguel Pro, who secretly ministered to Mexican Catholics under persecution and was later martyred by a firing squad, and who is patron of the pro-life movement, pray for us and the most vulnerable, especially those persecuted and forced into hiding.

Saint Pope John Paul II, who is well-known for his works on the theology of the body and promotion of respect of human dignity, pray for us and the most vulnerable, especially those who don’t know their worth.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is patroness of the unborn, pray for us so that we may have the courage to accept God’s Will and follow the path for which He designed us.

Remember in prayer all who are in need of the Lord’s healing and strength especially:

Prayer to Receive a New Bishop Praise to you, Lord our God, our eternal shepherd and guide. In your faithfulness, grant to the Diocese of Saint Cloud a shepherd whose watchful care and kindly zeal will continue the good work of his predecessors. In your love for us, give us a shepherd who will lead us in being Christ’s heart of mercy, voice of hope, and hands of justice. Help him to fill our minds and hearts with the truth of the Gospel, the power of the sacraments, and the desire to build up your holy Church.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

“Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” — Mark 1:17 Jesus’ call to “Follow me” is a call to all Christians! The call is in the here and now, in our present circum-stances, not when we think we are “ready” or have everything in order. Good stewardship of our God-given gifts means that things aren’t always going to go according to our schedule and that God has a much better plan in store for each of us.

Why Indulgences? “We know that Christ forgives sins through the sacrament of penance. So what does an indulgence do?” Penance takes away the eternal punishment but the earthly punishment may still remain. We still need to make amends here on earth or otherwise we will in purgatory. “Christians have always endeavored to help one another on the path leading to the heavenly Father through prayer...In this communion of the saints, the earthly Church, which has the power to ‘bind … and loose,’ can extend the penances of Christ and the saints to take the place of our own temporal (earthly) punishment: This is called an indulgentia-a favor. The Church revised the list of indulgences, contained in the Manual of Indulgences, in 1999… The size of indulgences is no longer measured in terms of days and years of equivalent fasting. An indulgence is now either partial, taking away “some part” of that punishment, or plenary, taking away all of it. To be given a plenary indulgence, in addition to saying the given prayer, one also goes to the sacrament of penance in the same week, receives Holy Communion the same day and says a prayer for the intention of the Holy Father. Indulgences, then, are not the remission of eternal punishment (hell); Christ’s grace does that freely in the sacrament of penance. Indulgences are the remission of temporal punishment (purgatory).” ~Catholic and Loving it

A Plenary Indulgence may be ob-tained in this year of St. Joseph. See our bulletin from 12/27 or visit: yearofstjoseph.org/indulgences/

Offering of Self ~from the Rural Life Prayer Book

Take O Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my under-

standing, and all my will, what ever I have and possess. You

have given all these things to me; to You, O Lord, I restore

them. All are Yours, dispose of then according to Your will.

Give me Your love and Your grace, for this is enough for me.
