As candidates debated the issues and frontrunners emerged, people’s excitement grew. They waited for the announcements of running mates, winners, new appoint-ments and big changes. The anticipation of big ideas and new leaders got everyone’s attention and interest. Out of the depths of oppression and slavery was born the hope and longing for a Savior. The Israelites looked for the day that God’s promise of salvation would restore their status as the Chosen People. When John the Baptist arrived, there was much speculation that he might be the One. He created a lot of interest and excite-ment that prepared the way of the Lord. We’ve heard the Advent message so often that it might seem old to us and Advent may become just an-other time of year. Perhaps we are not sure what it means to prepare the way of the Lord. But preparing for the Lord is like spring-cleaning. We need to take a good look at ourselves, change the bad habits of the past, and renew ourselves with grace, hope and the promise of life and peace. We announce His coming by our words and deeds. her 94th birthday last November. Angie is one of our faithful parishioners who never forget where she came from, people who know her can be a witness of her faithfulness and love for St. Rose Parish, in which we are also grateful for her un-wavering faith to the Catholic Church. She sends her greetings to all Parishioners of St. Rose especially this season of Advent and the coming Christmas.

Meet Father Cusack – Embracing his vocation, embracing God’s peopleFather Anthony Cusack grappled with his vocation as a young man. After hearing God’s call to the priesthood, he embraced a life of service to every person placed before him in ministry.

Recognizing the growing needs of ethnic communities, Father Anthony broadened his pastoral skills by learning to celebrate Mass in both Spanish and Vietnamese. This enabled him to accept his �rst assignment at St. Ambrose and St. Mark Parishes in 2015.

Today, Father Anthony ministers in the heart of Dorchester. He engages the community in three very di�erent languages. When summarizing his responsibilities, he describes personifying Christ: “The duty of the priest is, I think, to be Jesus to every single person he meets.”
