Parish Happenings

Water Wednesday at St. Peter’s

During the months of July and August, adults are invited to bring children to St. Peter’s for water sliding!! The slide will be operating on Wednesdays from 12:15-2:00 pm and there will be hot dogs on the grill! Why? Do we really need a reason for hotdogs and water sliding?? Adults should bring a kid, towel and a lawn chair (or sit on the lawn). It is free of charge and open to all. The dates are July 24, July 31,August 7,14. As long as it is a nice temp and no lightning, things are a go!

Donations of money or items, to help with the

lunch, are appreciated. Contact Deb (315-376-6662) to find out what is needed.

St. Peter’s Reminders * Please check for items belonging to you * If you’ve forgotten something in the pews...

LOST & FOUND is located in the tower room by the confessional.

There are many dishes left in the Church Hall… many have names on them.

St. Hedwig’s News Divine Mercy Devotions for the month of August, will be held with Exposition on Sunday, August 4, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Hedwig's Church, Houseville. All are wel-come. On Sunday, August 11, at the 11:00 a.m., mass, St. Hedwig's will observe the Polish custom of blessing flowers, herbs and grains to honor the Blessed Moth-er, (Matka Boska Zielna), Our Lady of the Greens, and her Feast of the Assumption during the week. There are many plants named after the Blessed Mother. We are to imitate the qualities of the Blessed Mother that these plants represent. All are welcome to bring bouquets, pots, and vases of flower and herbs and stalks of grains to be placed before the Blessed Mother statue in front of the altar. These blessed items can then be taken to the home or cem-etery or be given as gifts. Contact 315-348-6260 for more information.

Being Mission Minded

A couple of weeks ago we had Msgr. Benz from Cath-olic Outreach to cover our parish Masses while I was away. I will not be going anywhere but we will have another missionary with us as a part of our Diocesan Missionary Co-op Appeal this coming week . Father Alex Guimpol is a diocesan priest from the Archdio-cese of Caceres in the Philippines. The Archdiocese directly supervises 93 parishes with a total Catholic population of over 1 1/2 million. Father Alex is one of two priests from Caceres who were granted permis-sion to serve a six year term in the Diocese of Og-densburg as a way of helping Bishop LeValley cover parishes with the placement of priests. Currently, Fa-ther Alex is serving as Parochial Vicar at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake. As a part of the agreement with Caceres, our Diocese agreed to assist pastoral needs in Father Alex’s home diocese by including it in our annual missionary co-op appeal. More and more we are becoming an international church in Ogdens-burg with priests from India and the Philippines. We also have seminarians from Uganda, Kenya and our own Jude from Nigeria. In addition, have a sister dio-cese in Latakia, Syria. Our church is universal and as such we are called to be “Mission-Minded” by uniting our hearts with our brothers and sisters across the world and assist them with their needs. Please be generous next week.

Women’s Group Beginning Fall 2019 All women parishoners are welcomed to join “Women of Grace” - an international Catholic apostolate initiated by Johnette (Benkovic) Williams of Eternal Word Catholic Tele-vision Network. Natural Family Planning

NFP AWARENESS WEEK, July 21-27 invites everyone to discover God's wise de-sign for married love. In The Joy of Love (222), Pope Francis writes that natural meth-ods "are to be promoted, since these methods respect the bodies of the spouses, encourage tenderness between them, and favor the edu-cation of an authentic freedom." Couples who choose Natural Family Planning discover these benefits for themselves! To hear a personal account, go to rcdony.org/nfp and click on "One Couple's Story." To learn more, email [email protected] or call 518-483-0459.
