2 Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Church

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

What a beautiful experience last week was! We

were very blest to have received a Mission

preached by Mr. Hector Molina. I think everyone

who came was truly inspired by his passionate

preaching and inspired by his delivery of the

“Good News.” I heard many positive comments

and stories of how God’s grace was working in

people’s hearts because of their openness to what

Hector had to offer. Also, the 40 Hours Devotion

was a very refreshing time in our parish to simply

be with Our Lord in His Eucharistic Presence. I was

so edified to see so many people participating in

Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day and

attending the Mission in the evening. To those of

you who came, thank you and may God’s grace

continue to take root and bear fruit in your lives. I

also want to thank everyone who helped in

making the Mission an enjoyable time, your

kindness will not go unrewarded.

Now that the Mission and 40 Hours Devotion is over

the rest of Lent lies before us. So now we must

take up our crosses and follow after Our Lord with

the newfound strength and courage that we have

received and put all of that grace we received to

good use. The world is waiting for our Christian

witness of Love, let us be about following Our Lord,

dropping our nets immediately and going after

Him.

God is so good to us, have a blessed week!

Fr. Kunz

St. Patrick was born in Britain and captured by Irish pirates and taken to

Ireland as a slave. He escaped when he was twenty after having a dream

from God that told him to go to the coast where he found soldiers willing to

take him back home to freedom. At home, he had a vision about Ireland

that prompted his interest in the priesthood. After being ordained, he was

sent back to Ireland which was a pagan country at the time. Stories have it

that the Druids captured him and tried to kill him when God intervened to

save him. The tribal chief was then converted along with many other tribes

and pagans. St. Patrick was instrumental in converting Ireland for forty years.

He worked many miracles and wrote of his love for God. St. Patrick was a

humble, pious and totally devoted to God. He knew the importance of his

mission and was not afraid of anything because of his belief in God. He

died on March 17, 461.

** The Shamrock was used to denote the Holy Trinity by St. Patrick.

A Prayer For Lent

O gracious Master, infuse in our hearts the

spotless light of Your Divine Wisdom and

open the eyes of our mind that we may

understand the teachings of Your Gospel.

Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed

commandments, so that having curbed

all carnal desires, we may lead a spiritual

life, both thinking and doing everything to

please You. For You, O Christ, our God,

are the enlightenment of our souls and

bodies; and to You we render glory,

together with Your eternal Father, and

with Your all holy, life-creating Spirit, now

and ever, and forever.

“I am the Lord who brought you from

Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land

as a possession.”

- Genesis 15:7

Just as the Lord gave Abraham, Moses and the

Israelites a land to possess, He has also given each

of us a home. Whether your home is grand or

humble, it is a gift from God. Abraham prepared a

great sacrifice to the Lord in gratitude for the

home God gave him. How do you show your

gratitude to God for the home He has given you?

Do you make a sacrifice of any kind? Do you

return any of your finances to God, investing

equally in your eternal home just as you invest in

your earthly home?

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Our minds are often preoccupied with the things of

this world, and we forget about the things of heaven.

We live our lives as if what we see before us is all there

is and almost place the truth of eternity on hold until it

is absolutely necessary to confront it. We fail to see the

connection between earth and heaven and to see

the road of transformation we are all called to travel.

When Jesus was transfigured before his disciples, they

saw the truth of who he was. Earth and heaven were

wed that day, just as they will one day come together

for us. God desires to transfigure us as well, changing

our earthly body into our heavenly one. We miss our

true destiny if we don't factor this into the choices we

make and the paths we choose to walk.
