FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Fr. Michael B. Brillantes We’ll Pull Through The Bay Area in under unpresented lockdown. Residents are prohibited from leaving homes except for necessities and essential activities like going out for a breath of fresh air. Banks , restaurants and theaters are closed. Masses are private with only the priest and an altar server present; no one also. Confessions are regulated by the six-foot dis-tance and ten-person at a time advisory. Such is the situa-tion we are in for the next three weeks, at least. We'll pull through if we look out another, be considerate and understanding. If we take only what we need and not hoard, if we practice thriftiness and not excess, if we stay calm and not panic, we will be fine. We'll pull through. Not only will we pull through but the stay-in-shelter order can be a blessing in disguise. We all know how stressful life is with myriad of concerns to attend to, a long list of to-dos and deadlines to beat. Even meeting people, especial-ly those who push our buttons, can be particularly stress-ful. Now, with the quarantine in place, we can just take our own pace, slow down ,sit and relax, read good book, pray and mediate. We are given a pass from personal con-tact with people, even those who live with us. Just put out the hand and say with all candor, "stay right there. Don't come any close!” That being said, we should be aware of the many people whose lives have been upended with the corona virus pan-demic. They are not those who catch the virus, their fami-lies and the healthcare workers but also those who liveli-hood are affected, who lose their job as work come to a standstill. Lets have them in our thoughts and prayers. And, if we know who's struggling because of this crisis , lets try be extra-caring and generous even if it hurts. There is a mot-to that is very apt; "live simply so that others may simply live. "Now, that’s prayers, sacrifice and almsgiving, the threefold Lenten discipline. Not only will we pull through. This can be a moment of Grace. The responsorial psalm on this fourth Sunday of Lent, the much-loved Psalm 23rd, could not have come at a more opportune time. The response is particularly touching: "The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. "Read the entire psalm aloud, let the words touch your mind and sink in your heart. Be at peace. St.Paul, in the second reading, remind us that once we were in darkness but now we are in the light. He encour-age us to ‘live as children of light “ and to do “what is pleasing to the Lord. "We can transform this “corona” from a crown go thorn to a crown of glory. Finally, here's a list of what's available at St. Brunos: -Live-streamed Sunday mass(11AM) once the technology is in place. -The adoration chapel is open -Hot food and coffee for takeout from the shelter -Candles in the waiting room rectory (9AM-12NN) _Confessions on Saturday (3:30PM). Kindly bring your cellphone.

No solo saldremos adelante.

Dear All, In observance of a "shelter in place" order from the Gover-nor, the Archbishop, after due consultation, has issued a new set of instructions, herewith attached. What this means for us in St. Bruno's, starting tomorrow until April 7, are:

Daily mass will be celebrated with only the priest and one altar server present.

Deacon Ramon is working on live-streaming the masses. Hopefully, this technology will be in place by

Sunday, March 22. A step-by-step instruction will be given out how to access this.

Mass intentions accepted by the office will be fulfilled. Announcement will be posted how to make spiritual

communion for those who follow mass remotely (radio, television and internet)

With regards to requests for Sacramental communion,

which I imagine there will be a strong desire, especially for Palm Sunday (April 5) I will consult with

the Council, especially the Liturgy committee, how to accommodate such request "in a way that is in accord with the Health Offices' order."

The parish will respond to sick calls observing the hygienic procedure defined by the Archbishop. Confessions will be heard at an open space (not in the

confessional box) observing the six feet rule. The Chrism Mass is limited only to a small group of

priests. For baptisms, wedding and funerals, the 6-feet rule

will be in place with no more than ten people in attendance.

"Palm Sunday falls within the time frame covered by the order." The Archbishop will communicate with us in due time with some guidance.

More information: The adoration chapel will remain open. For the shelter, Peter informed me that breakfast will

be provided for to-go only; no dine-in. Showers and mail pickups will still be available.

The office is closed but we will try our best to answer the telephone.

Personally, I will do my best to respond to the pastoral needs of our people given my limitation since I'm highly susceptible to the virus due to pre-existing medical condition (pulmonary hypertension). Thanks. Let's continue to support one another, especially the sick and the caregivers. Fr. Michael

Catechism Corner by Kacey Carey , DRE Sight is one of the most important senses because vision enables us to navigate safety in a world littered with obstacles. Imagine being the man born blind and not knowing what the faces of your loved ones looked like. And further being a recipient of a miracle, at the hand of Jesus, seeing for the first time. The gospel came to life for me and our Confirmation program last weekend when Fr.Justin, a missionary priest gave a dynamic homily followed by meaningful role playing. He called on 3 volunteer students to stand in front of their class-mates and the whole church. Each one was asked to portray God's love as part of the Trinity. God the Father volunteered first, the Holy Spirit last and God the Son volunteered secondly. The remarkable thing about the Son is that he was born blind. He volunteered immediately using his cane to navigate to the center aisle. He did not appear embarrassed or shy , but quickly and proudly stood for all to see. The unusual thing about teenagers is most seek anonymity, dread public recognition and especially when singled out by their peers. So for these teens to stand in front of their classmates and exemplify the Trinity, was a milestone. Lastly a homeless man came from the back of the church to stand in the middle of the three. The "Trinity" was asked to show God's love to the man. They quickly en-circled him putting their arms around him and held this pose for 7 minutes. That homeless man probably felt God's love for the first time. This remarkable scenario allowed teens to overcome their inhibitions, and allowed a lonely homeless man to feel connected to total strangers. All felt God's love both in the grace to demonstrate his love and in the reception of his love. "Lent is a time when we relive the Passion of Christ. Let it not be just a time when our feelings are roused, but let it be a change that comes through cooperation with God's grace in real sacrifices of self." St.Teresa of Calcutta
