F P   Dear Folks:

Items for this week:

**Lenten Spiritual Opportuni es: Now that Holy Week is coming upon us, I would ask again that from Palm

Sunday through Easter Sunday there be no parish mee ngs on campus; this  is simply to keep the total focus of that

week on Jesus’ passion, death and resurrec on; thanks to all who moved scheduled mee ngs.  The schedule of ser-

vices for Holy Week:

  1). Monday of Holy Week:  Living Sta ons of the Cross presented by the 8th graders of Saint Ambrose School;

this will be at 7:00 p.m. in Church-

2). Tuesday of Holy Week:  Reconcilia on Night from 6:00 p.m.—9:00 p.m.

3).  Wednesday  of  Holy  Week:    Tenebrae  Service  offered  at  7:00  p.m.:    Tenebrae (the La n word for,

“darkness,” or shadows,”) is part of the rich tradi on of the Catholic Church’s celebra on of Holy Week. The dis nc-

ve feature of Tenebrae is the gradual ex nguishing of 15 candles arbitrarily placed in the sanctuary of the Church

while a series of readings and psalms are recited, sung, or chanted. A candle is ex nguished a er each reading to sym-

bolize the darkness that envelopes the world with the death of Jesus Christ. Finally, only a single candle—the Paschal

Candle—a symbol of our Lord—remains. Toward the end of the service the Paschal Candle is carried from the Church

sanctuary typifying the apparent victory of the forces of evil. At the very end, a loud noise—the strepi s—is made,

symbolizing the earthquake at the me of the resurrec on (Ma hew 28: 2); the hidden Paschal Candle is restored to

its place in the sanctuary remembering the hope of Jesus Christ even at the darkest days of the world. All depart in

silence.

4). Mass of the Lord’s Supper: 7:00 p.m.

5). Good Friday Service: 3:00 p.m.

6). Easter Vigil: 7:00 p.m.

7). Easter Morning:

    a). 6:00 a.m. Sunrise Service at the Piazza Imo‐

    b). 7:00 a.m.

c). 9:00 a.m.

d). 11:00 a.m.

Thank you for your generous support of our Saint Vincent de Paul Conference! If you or someone you know needs assistance with food, utilities, rent, clothing, transportation or prescription medications, pleas call: 314-289-6101, ext. 1131.

My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.1 John 3:18

The Saint Ambrose Society is an outreach ministry in our parish that strives to live out our gospel values by serving the poor. We are the Hands and Feet of Jesus...loving people hands on, rolling up our sleeves and

getting our hands dirty and spending time with the broken and the outcast.

We are a group that volunteers in a variety of ways to help those less fortunate. Our schedule fluctuates based on the needs of the organizations we serve

and volunteers are scheduled on a rotating basis. Call Deacon Joe if interested in helping with this ministry 314-771-1228 or email [email protected]

CLOTHING PANTRY…

We now have 23 outlets for the many items you donate to the Clothing Pantry! For newborns, infants, children, teens and adults...YOU are making a difference by ReFRESHing your closets and ReNEWing their lives. What a blessing you are to so many!

We became aware of a company, Remains, Inc., dedicated to "recycle and reuse". Their objective is to ensure items that can be recycled do not end up in landfills. They accept clothing and post-industry textiles to be reused or repurposed into usable materials. They partner with local resale shops to accept clothing and textiles that have been on shelves too long and need to be cleared to make way for new seasonal items. If they are suitable for reuse, they are shipped to people around the world. Should the items not be suitable for addi-tional use, i.e., soiled, torn, etc. the items are repurposed into cloths, or processed into fiber, each item for reuse!

Our Clothing Pantry distributes 99+% of your clothing to those 23 shelters. As we sort each item of clothing received, should we feel something is not suitable for the dignity of our homeless, we too will deliver these items to Remains, Inc. The St. Ambrose Society's Clothing Pantry will continue to serve our neighborhood, as well as protect our fragile environment!
