St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement
St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic
community dedicated to celebrating the life and
word of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to deepen
their spiritual and personal lives through active
participation in weekly Liturgy, the celebration of
the Sacraments, Parish ministries and community
activities. Acknowledging our incompleteness and
our need for God’s grace, we commit ourselves,
through Baptism, to responding to God’s call to
become and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in
our time. Jesus Christ is at the center of all of our
lives.

Dear Parishioners,
MAY.
The month of First Communions, weddings,
graduations and anniversaries.
It’s the month of ordinations, planting gardens,
clothes-closet changes, beautiful flowering trees and
shrubs.
It’s the month of Baseball, from T-ball and little
league to the Yankees and Mets.
It’s the month of Allergies, veterans’ poppies,
Memorial Day and beach openings.
MAY IS THE MONTH OF MARY.
MAY IS THE MONTH OF MOTHER’S DAY.
We honor the Mother of our Redeemer, the first
saint, the woman chosen by God to bring Jesus into our
world in his humanity. Mary is Mother of the Church.
Hopefully every Catholic has a warm place in his or her
heart for Our Lady, learning from her trust in God and her
maternal care for God’s People.
Remember the old adage: “The hand that rocks the cradle
rules the world”. A little exaggerated, perhaps, but a good
reminder of the vital importance of Motherhood.
Today we honor all our Mothers, living and de-
ceased. We pray that our good Lord bless them with
health, contentment and inner peace.
Let’s all pray for troubled Mothers today, those
who carry heavy burdens, mothers who struggle to rear
families well.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Sincerely in Christ,
Msgr. Desmond
