case of disease, for which I shall only

give in this place general directions, of

which the practitioner will bear in mind

only what is applicable for each individual

case, demands of the physician nothing

but freedom from prejudice and soundsenses, attention in observing and fidelity

in tracing the picture of the disease.

circumstance mentioned by the patient or

his friends, so that the symptoms shall be

all ranged separately one below the other.

He can thus add to any one, that may at

first have been related in too vague a

manner, but subsequently more explicitlyexplained.

When the narrators have finished what they would say of their ownaccord, the physician then reverts to each particular symptom andelicits more precise information respecting it in the following manner;he reads over the symptoms as they were related to him one byone, and about each of them he inquires for further particulars, e.g. ,at what period did this symptom occur? Was it previous to taking the

medicine he had hitherto been using? Whilst taking the medicine?Or only some days after leaving off the medicine? What kind of pain,what sensation exactly, was it that occurred on this spot? Wherewas the precise spot? Did the pain occur in fits and by itself, atvarious times? Or was it continued, without intermission? How longdid it last? At what time of the day or night, and in what position ofthe body was it worst, or ceased entirely? What was the exactnature of this or that event or circumstance mentioned - described inplain words?

1.A prolonged aggravation and final decline of the patient. In incurable and doubtful cases give no higher than the 30th or 200thpotency, and observe whether the aggravation is going to be deep or tooprolonged

2.Long aggravation, but final and slow improvement. 3. Aggravation is quick, short and strong with rapid improvement of the

patient.

4. No aggravation, with recovery of the patient. 5. The amelioration comes first and the aggravation comes afterwards. 6.Too short relief of symptoms. 7.Full time amelioration of the symptoms, yet no special relief of the patient 8.
