SCOPE Education Services, in cooperation with the Sag
Harbor Union Free School District, is excited to be
offering the Summer Enrichment Program. We are
delighted to be able to offer this program to your children
in the hope of providing them with enriching ways to
expand their learning while having fun. This program is
available to students entering grades 1st - 7th in September
2015.
Out-of-district residents are welcome to participate!
The program will take place Monday through Friday,
starting July 6th through July 31st at Pierson Middle/High
School.
We are pleased to be able to offer this program and we
hope that it will enhance your childs learning experience.

SCOPE Summer Enrichment Program at Sag Harbor Schools
Registration Information
1. Courses are listed for the grade level the student will be entering in September 2015.
2. Select any courses in which you would like to enroll your child. Course enrollments have limits and, therefore, will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to accommodate all selections.
3. Courses run for ten days and cost $105.00 each.
4. Total your course fees and enclose a check or money order payable to SCOPE. Credit cards are also accepted.
5. Please fill out all information on the registration form. Return the completed registration form and full payment by June 12, 2015 to:

6. Online registration is available and highly recommended. For quick and easy registration please visit www.scopeonline.us. Click on Summer Programs 2015, then click on Sag Harbor Summer Enrichment Program.
7. There will be a $25.00 fee for any returned checks or declined credit cards.
8. Confirmations and Emergency/Health forms will be emailed before the start of the program. Please contact SCOPE if you do not receive an emailed confirmation by this time. It is the parents responsibility to see that their child is present on the first day of class. No credit/refund will be given.
9. Course fees will not be refundable after Friday, June 26, 2015. All refunds issued prior to June 26
th will incur a $10.00 processing fee.
10. The Summer Enrichment program will be held at Pierson Middle/High School. Parents are responsible for their childs transportation to and from the program.
11. Children enrolled in both sessions may bring a snack.

13. SCOPE requires a minimum enrollment to run each class. SCOPE reserves the right to cancel a course due to insufficient enrollment.

CRAFTY KIDS
Do you love to craft? Then lets have a craft-astic summer! Dive into glue,
paint and so much more to create imaginative arts and crafts. Come and
join in on all of the fun and let your imagination run free as you create some
fun and exciting crafts to take home!
Course # 1-Session 1: Grades 4-7 Course # 2-Session 2: Grades 1-3
CREATIVE COLLAGE AND CANVAS
Get your creative juices flowing and create two extraordinary pieces of
art! This class will include time outside the classroom sketching, exploring
nature, and discovering what inspires you. Back in the classroom you will use
various materials to complete both a flat canvas panel and a stretch canvas
to bring home and proudly display.
Course # 3-Session 1: Grades 1-3 Course # 4-Session 2: Grades 4-7
DUAL LANGUAGES- SPANISH AND ENGLISH
This will be a dual language (Spanish/English) class for younger students
that will focus on basic language skills presented through thematic arts and
crafts. Students will be instructed in both languages and will learn through
project-based lessons. Both English and Spanish native language speakers
are encouraged to sign up. Hope to see you there!

FITNESS AND MUSIC
Do you enjoy music and being active? Lets put these together as we
explore moving and grooving to the sounds of summer. Students would get
to experience many diverse styles of music while participating in a variety
of activities. From Just Dance to playing different instruments that inspire
kinesthetic movement, each activity is sure to be a hit. This is a great
opportunity to motivate students to brainstorm and create original ideas/
songs while getting exercise at the same time.

GAMING SUMMER READING
Enroll your child in a fun and stimulating reading experience that will
serve to provide the necessary reinforcement to maintain reading skills
over the summer vacation. Students will be engaged in daily activities
that strengthen the five areas of reading skill development, through
hands-on board games that address alphabetic principles (phonics),
phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Through the
use of instructional games and daily Read Alouds, students will continue
to perfect their reading skills and become more confident readers.

LETS PLAY PIANO
Do you have a keyboard at home, but you dont know how to play any
songs? Take your keyboard to music class this summer and learn how to
play! Through singing and playing many fun music games, you will learn to
play the piano and read musical notations. No experience necessary.
However, those who have some experience will be given more advanced
pieces. Students must have a keyboard, headphones and a love of music!

MUSICAL MOVING GAMES
This would be a class that focuses on several kinesthetic musical ideas
based on the Dalcroze philosophy. Activities include moving with scarves,
bean bag passing, and moving to different musical aspects such as tempo,
high/low, and major/minor. Many activities are in a game format that help
students achieve success in an individual and group setting. Instruments
such as xylophone and boom-whackers will be included.

READERS ODYSSEY
Come enjoy the journey as we choose adventure over struggle. Together
we will explore and conquer the challenges that readers often encounter.
Through focus peer group discussions, journal writing, and questioning/
evaluating activities, students will explore who and where they are on the
reading continuum. In addition, students will discuss and practice the
strategies of good readers. Each day will culminate in a Read Aloud
literary choice that will serve to warm our hearts and build our
characters. Enter the portal with questions about reading and emerge with
reading strategies and increased self-confidence.

THIS IS MY TYPE OF READING
Do you love books and enjoy reading? Come join us as we embark on a
different adventure each day. In this course, we search through a variety
of books and bring our favorite books to life through writing and artsy
projects. You will also have the chance to be an author yourself and make
your own storybook creations. Come and expand your literary enjoyment!

YOGA, FITNESS & FUN
This is more than a kids yoga class! We will be moving and playing with
yoga, games, hula hoops (the real thing, pvc hoops!), jump rope and other
fun fitness activities to energize, increase balance, strength and
flexibility. Our movement time will be followed by art activities with
music and read aloud stories. The yoga instruction portion of this
program follows YogaEd guidelines used in public school physical
education classes. It encourages self-regulation and self-esteem as well
as safe physical exercise. Come join us for some fitness, summer fun!
