This course provides an ideal introduction to the concepts, development, and operation of a Safety

Management System. Course material is based on ICAO Annex 19 and Document 9859. Over 300 opera-

tional and management personnel have attended this course in 2014.

The course is targeted at SMS practitioners who have a responsibility for investigating and analysing both

major and minor occurrences . The course provides essential material to enable attendees to return to their

organisations and undertake the investigation assignment

The course is designed for SMS practitioners who will take on the role of internal auditor within their or-

ganisation.

This course provides the tools to enable SMS practitioners to successfully undertake basic safety risk man-

agement processes.

This course introduces the concept of safety survey enabling SMS practitioners to carry out safety surveys

within their organisation. Surveys are an effective tool to guage levels of an organisation’s safety culture.

ARI can provide client specific courses on request such as senior management briefings and Human Factors

workshops. Also, ARI has produced client specific Safety Management Systems together with an accompa-

nying implementation programme. See this section for further details.

ARI has identified a gap in safety management training and that is the role of the organisation’s safety man-

ager which is multfunctional carrying with it a high level of responsibility for the operation of the SMS and

the monitoring of safety performance. ARI has designed this course for newly appointed safety managers

to meet the exacting demands of this essential task
