“Making Up” “Making up” is a phrase used among Catholic people who support their church by using the parish envelope system. When someone misses Mass they place their usual offering in their envelope and set it aside. The next time they attend Mass, they deposit two or more envelopes into the collection. “Making up” is really not a burden or additional sacrifice; it is simply a new habit. By adopting this method of weekly support, you provide the parish with a stable and reliable in-come.

Day of Prayer for Unborn Children The Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children will be observed by the Catholic Church in the US on Monday, January 22nd. Penitential practices, prayer, fasting, acts of charity directed at Pro-Life organizations and attending Mass are ways of observing the day. For those who are unable due to age, ill health etc. to partic-ipate in any of those activities, praying in your home is a fine way to participate in the Day of Prayer. There is a novena of Prayer for Life available called “9Days for Life”. Visit www.9daysforlife.com and pray along with others from January 18th-26th.

IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) St. Bartholomew Church is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax As-sistance (VITA) site in Camden every Wednesday evening during the 2018 tax season to help bring cash back to families in need! VITA provides free tax preparation for anyone who makes less than $54,000 to access valuable tax refunds and credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit. “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mark 1:17) Jesus’ call to “Follow me” is a call to all Christians! The call is in the here and now, in our present circumstances, not when we think we are “ready” or have everything in order. Good Stewardship of our God-given gifts means that things aren’t always going to go according to our schedule and that God has a much better plan in store for each of us.
