SACRAMENT OF THE SICK The Pastor invites any person who is going to the hospital to receive this Sacrament. Also invited to receive the Sacrament are those who are ill or elderly who cannot come to Church. Please contact the rectory to arrange for the celebration. The instruction class, to which all parents and godparents are invited, is held in the rectory on the Sunday before the baptism at 2:00 PM. LITURGY COMMITTEE MEETING Liturgy Committee will meet on Monday, January 22nd at 6:30pm in the rectory meeting room. SPECIAL COLLECTION The Cardinal's annual collection [NOT APPEAL] will be taken up on January 28th. This collection is for the support of the Church around the world.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM Registration continues throughout the year. You may register your children at the Parish Center on Sundays when classes are scheduled, or you may register at the Parish Office during the week. Further information regarding the program may be found at the ramp entrance to the Church or on our parish website.

SCHEDULE OF CLASSES January classes for Grades K through 8 will be held on Jan. 21st and the 28th. January classes for High School Confirmation will be held on Jan. 21st. February classes for Grades K through 8 will be held on Feb. 4th, 11th, and 18th. February classes for High School Confirmation will be held on Feb. 4th and 18th.

CONFIRMATION MEETING On January 21st the Confirmation II students, sponsors, and parents will meet at the Parish Center during the regular class time.

AWAY FOR THE WINTER! In the event that you will be away for a good portion of the winter, please notify the Rectory Office so that we may discontinue mailing your envelopes. Tell us how long you will be away and we will resume mailings upon your return. If you would like to keep up with what’s going on in the Parish, we would be happy to send the bulletin to your winter address.

Summary of Minutes of Pastoral Council Meeting January 15, 2018

Fr. Mawn opened the meeting with prayer. Present were: Carl Benanti, Mimi Benanti, Mary Crow, Marilinda Cruz, Mary Lou Nichols, Josie Paolino, Wayne Pickles and Anita Sapienza.

*Fr. Mawn was happy to announce that the Parish Center men’s room will be renovated in June by the generosity and talent of Gino Barone. *The St. Rita Sodality has purchased a beautiful statue of St. Rita to be displayed on her Feast Day in May with the celebration of the Mass of the Roses. The larger statue of St. Rita will remain stationary in the lower church for prayerful meditation. * NEW TIME: The Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality honor the Blessed Mother every second Saturday of the month at the 4:00 PM Mass followed by a general meeting in the Rectory at designated times. Each time before the 4:00 Mass, there will be a Rosary recited at 3:00 PM reflecting on the mysteries of the Rosary. The upcoming date is February 10th. The world needs prayers. *The Holy Name Society will sponsor a Mardi Gras on Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 PM at Joe Fish Restaurant in North Andover. Seating is limited. *Update on the breakdown of registered parishioners who use Offertory envelopes and registered parishioners who do not use envelopes. Awareness of collection designation. *Replacement of weathered signs. We will be purchasing three new signs (Essex Street, Front Office, and corner of Common Street) at a cost of $2,000 from Harvey Signs. These new signs will be made of Poly metal which is more durable. ·*Update on Religious Education Program (parent meetings, retreats, children and adults receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, First Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation). *Classroom Setup for Religious Education at the Parish Center Where the parish hall is being used in many facets of the life of the parish, it is Important that after each function, the hall be assembled back into the classroom format. *Cori Forms were due the end of October. It would make Mary Crow’s job easier if volunteers would adhere to that time frame in returning the forms completely filled out. *Safety – there should be no parking of cars in the alley way by the Exit door of the Parish Center. *The next Liturgy Committee Meeting will be on January 22nd at 6:30 PM in the Rectory.

*The Renewal Discussion Series will resume on February 13th in the Parish Center. *Ash Wednesday is February 14th. There will be a pizza meal in the Parish Center before the Mass and distribution of ashes.

WEATHER CLOSINGS & DELAYS The Winter Season is almost upon us and we would like to inform you that you can check weather cancelations or delays on any of the activities of the parish on Channel 5 WCVB or their website www.TheBostonChannel.com. We suggest to the parents who have their children enrolled in our Religious Education Classes that they can sign up to receive closing and delays via text message to cell phones or PDAs. They can sign up for the service by going to TheBostonChannel.com and then to the Weather section. Once there, they can click on the Closings icon to go through the sign up process.

The Holy Name Society is sponsoring a Mardi Gras on Sunday, February 11, 2018 - 2:00 PM, at Joe Fish, Route 125, North Andover Mass. We are limited to 60 persons. Buffet cost is $25 per person.
