Stewardship Corner ~ Hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. ROMANS 5:5

In the middle of the reading today is this statement: “yet is their hope full of immortality.” Our hope in the Lord is completely connected to both our humanity as sinners and to our belief in everlasting life. Comprehending this is what fills us with hope, and living our lives in stewardship for the tremendous gift of this is what fulfills us.

The Lord says, “…everyone who sees the son and believes in him may have eternal life.” When we say, “Our hope is in the Lord,” this is exactly what we mean. When we are hungry, we know that food will solve the problem. Here however, we are speaking of a spiritual hunger. Our lives are filled with times of despair, and perhaps sadness. It is hope in the promise of Christ, our hope in salvation and eternal lives of joy with the Lord that allow us to live with a positive outlook on life. Stewardship is the approach filled with hope, and thus joy. It allows us to live life in a loving way that gives back to God and helps us to recognize those gifts we have been given.

For more about hope, and to see Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclical letter on Christian Hope, Spe Salvi, see http://www.catholic.com/magazine/articles/man-needs-hope-to-live and/or visit the vatican website to search his letter.

    Sacred Heart Student Council

Our Student Council was officially installed after our First Friday Liturgy on October 3 and since

then has been working hard learning the many ways that leadership is a valuable skill. Our beginning

goals have focused on many things to help our school and to offer support for others. Student

Council members led the school on October 7th in praying the rosary, honoring the

    Feast of the Holy Rosary.

Our Fall Fun lollipops sale has been very successful; over 500 have been sold. The first monies

raised will be going to help with the supportive and educational services the Child Life program

provides for the patients at the A.I. duPont hospital for Children. Student Council will also host

our neighboring ABVM 6th -8th graders for a social this month, collecting donations for

Neighborhood Services and preparing to join in a yearly opportunity of support with

the Signing Time Foundation and La Sicilia.

  • PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SICK, especially:

Jordan Guerrin, John Karat, Dick Daley, Anne Marie Oshman, Diana Leitch and all parishioners with special needs.

Please contact the parish office if you would like to add someone to our prayer

list. You may resubmit a person’s name anytime through our website,

    www.sacredheart.us or call 610-932-5040.

Any new additions to the sick or military list will be in the bulletin for one month, then continued on the website for our prayers.

Please contact the parish office for removal from the website prayer list.
