THE TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS On Sunday, August 13th at 12:30 p.m., we will have the Extraordinary Form Traditional Latin Mass
celebrating the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost. This is the Mass as it was celebrated prior to the changes that followed the Second Vatican Council. It is offered entirely in Latin, and is offered ad orientem (facing the altar). This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the liturgical history of the Church, and therefore to understand better the way we
offer the Mass today. All are welcome, and encouraged to attend. Msgr. Nave will be offering a Missa Cantata (sung Mass). Music will be provided by the Sacred Heart Schola.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Thursday, July 27
6:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Church Confessions start at 7:00 p.m.
BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL As of today, our parishioners have raised $34,940 from 173 parishioners representing 12% of our total number of registered families in our parish. Our parish goal is $69,987. We need the support of all of our parish families to reach our financial goal and reach the 100% participation goal. If you have not made your pledge of support, you may return your pledge form to the parish office or make your gift online. Remember, every gift counts, no gift is too small. Every dollar helps those in need. If you have any questions, please call the parish o f f i c e o r v i s i t t h e A p p e a l w e b s i t e FaithHopeCharityGives.org.
SACRED HEART MEN'S SCRIPTURE STUDY The Sacred Heart Men's Scripture study group will NOT be meeting during the months of July and August. We will resume our meetings on Thursday Sept. 14 in the Burkhardt Bldg. between 7 and 8:30PM with a teaching on "What do Catholics believe about the Bible?" based on the works of Dr. Scott Hahn. This would be a good time to join the Study. Nothing is required of you, except a desire to learn more about the Word of God. Email Deacon Lewis Ferris at [email protected] with any questions. "Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ" - St. Jerome

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM is celebrated on Sunday at Noon. If you are a parishioner and would like to schedule a Baptism, please contact the Parish Office. Prior to the baptism, parents must attend a Baptism Preparation Class which is designed to instruct the parents about the teachings of the church regarding Baptism, and to offer assistance in the spiritual preparation for their child’s reception of the first of the Sacraments of the Church.
GODPARENT/SPONSOR ELIGIBILITY FORMS: In order to act as a godparent for Baptism or a Sponsor for Confirmation, one must be a Catholic in good standing. Specifically this means Mass attendance every Sunday (Exodus 20:8), striving to live the moral precepts of the Church, and if married, a valid marriage in the Catholic Church. RCIA (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS): Those who desire entrance into the Catholic Church are warmly welcome through the RCIA. Please contact the Pastor for more information. THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Parishioners who are contemplating the Sacrament of Matrimony should contact the Pastor and mutually agree upon a date at least a year prior to the Wedding. The Church takes the preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously, and requires completion of the Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program six months before the wedding. The normative time for weddings is Saturday between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Weddings are not celebrated on major holidays, nor on the first weekend of June in deference to Ordination of Priests each year at that time. Either the Bride or the Groom must be a practicing member of Sacred Heart Parish in order to request a wedding date. COMMUNION TO THE HOMEBOUND: A Priest or Deacon will visit monthly. Extraordinary Ministers visit those who wish to receive more often. Always notify us about the homebound parishioners who wish to be visited. THE SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK is given to those who are seriously ill and in danger of death. When there is danger of death, please call the Pastor anytime, day or night. PARISH MEMORIALS: Following the death of a relative or friend, offerings may be made to the Church in loving memory of the deceased. Offerings may specify a particular request or be placed in the Memorial Fund for parish needs. PARISH SCHOOL: Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish School is a fully-accredited Pre-Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle school of the Diocese of Allentown. Moral development, proper study skills, and strength of character are integrated into our academic plan. Registration for all grades is ongoing. Please contact the school office for more info or a personal tour. CONSOLATION MINISTRY: The Consolation Ministry Reaches out to families who have experienced the death of a loved one in order to help them prepare for the Funeral Mass and gain an understanding of death as a believing Catholic. For more information on this ministry, please contact Joan West at 610-759-4644.
