È come un uomo, che è partito dopo aver lasciato la propria casa e dato il potere ai suoi servi, a ciascuno il suo compito, e ha ordinato al portiere di

vegliare. Vegliate dunque: voi non sapete quando il padrone di casa ritornerà, (Mc 13, 34-35a)

When a man goes abroad and leaves his home, he puts his servants in charge, giving to each one some responsibility; and he orders the doorkeeper to stay awake. So stay awake, for you don't know when the Lord of the house

se alla sera o a mezzanotte o al canto del gallo o al mattino; fate in modo che, giungendo all’improvviso, non vi trovi addormentati. Quello che dico a

La lettura e la meditazione delle sacre scritture domenicali, non sostituiscono la Santa Messa, alla quale siamo tutti chiamati a rendere grazie e onore a Dio e chiedere perdono dei nostri peccati. Nella liturgia eucaristica, Cristo attualizza il sacrificio della croce e si offre come cibo per le nostre anime. Noi riconosciamo Dio come Padre, da lodare e amare sempre, e, ci riconosciamo fratelli e sorelle di tutti. Dio è un Padre che non obbliga nessuno ad amarlo e lodarlo ma, come tale, gradisce essere amato dai figli per loro libera scelta d’amore.

does not substitute the Holy Mass. We are called to take part in the Holy Mass to give

thanks and honor God and to ask for forgiveness of our sins. In the Eucharistic liturgy, Christ makes present the sacrifice of

the cross and offers Himself as nourishment for our souls. We

recognize God as the Father to be praised and loved always

and, we acknowledge ourselves as brothers and sisters of each

other and of all people. God is a Father who does not force

anyone to love him and praise him but, as such, like to be

loved by children of their own free choice of love.

   Chiedilo all'aurora. Lei ti risponderà: "E’ di notte che mi

alzo e inizio a spargere la luce". Chiedilo alla Risurrezione. Lei ti risponderà: "Nella notte di quella Croce ho fatto le

prove generali per la mia danza". Chiedilo alla vittoria. Lei ti risponderà: "Nella notte della sconfitta ho avvertito il sapore della rivincita". Chiedilo all'amore. Lui ti risponderà: "Nella notte dell'abbandono ho riamato il volto dell'amato". Chiedilo a Maria. Lei ti risponderà: "Nella notte oscura del Sabato Santo ho avvertito i primi passi del mio Figlio vestito di luce". Chiedilo a Lui. Lui ti risponderà: "Vigilate dunque, poiché non sapete quando il padrone di casa ritornerà, se di sera o a mezzanotte o al canto del gallo o di mattino, perché non giunga all'improvviso, trovandovi addormentati" (Mc 13, 33-37). Di notte - in quel labile spazio che abita tra l'oscurità e la luce - affondano le radici il genio e la santità di Gesù di Nazareth che di notte s'alzava per pregare e caricarsi d'Eterno: perché di notte s'avverte meglio l'urto della secchia nel pozzo, la canzone del fuoco, il tonfo di una mela, le parole cupe sulle soglie, il grido del bimbo. Le cose che non passano mai: quelle di Dio e dei suoi avventurieri. Il popolo di Dio attende per entrare nella Terra Promessa: Mosè attende un cenno nel mezzo del deserto, Maria attende un cenno nell'attesa del Golgota

- "Dimmi, Figlio mio, quanto mi resta da attenderti" -, i discepoli vivono nell'attesa del Regno. Chi attende lo fa per un semplice ammonimento, umano prima che cristiano: "Perché non giunga all'improvviso trovandovi addormentati". E' il sonno di chi non spera più, di chi varca la soglia di casa e non avverte più il battito di un'attesa. S'addormenta chi non sa più sognare e immaginare, leggere e rimotivarsi, scrutare l'orizzonte e lasciarsi guardare da un volto. Chi non pensa, non cammina, non s'intestardisce a capire il perché del mondo e della storia. Che non vi trovi addormentati, o al più fuori casa come le vergine rimaste senza olio proprio all'approssimarsi dello Sposo. Non ci perdoneremmo mai d'aver smarrito proprio quell'attimo di Cielo per il quale siamo nati e sotto il quale siamo cresciuti: perché i passi di Dio giungono inaspettati al pari dell'Amore che sorprende, puntuali al pari dell'Amore che ci tiene, esigenti al pari dell'Amore che conosce la sua incontentabile fascinazione. Verrà nelle vesti di un Ladro per strappare dal ventre nostro la disperazione e colmarlo di parole scelte sapientemente, di fiori che somiglino a pensieri, di rose che tengano il lineamento della presenza, di canzoni che facciano danzare gli inferi della notte, di stelle ancora capaci di sussurrare speranzosi spazi di Cielo. Laggiù nel fondo, accavallata tra una grotta e la calotta dell'universo, s'accende il lume di una stella: il sospetto è che anche quest'anno Dio abbia deciso di riscommettere su quell'uomo così denso di mistero e d'attesa da Lui creato. L'attesa che gli chiede è l'altra faccia dell'Amore.  

Buon avvento: che l'Amore non ci trovi assonnati!

Ask it at dawn. She will answer you: "It 's at night that I get up and start spreading light." Ask it to the Resurrection. She will answer you: "On the night of that Cross I have

rehearsing for my dance." Ask it to the victory. She will answer you: "On the night of the defeat I felt the taste of revenge." Ask it to love. He will answer you: "On the night of abandonment I loved back the face of the beloved." Just ask Mary. She'll say, "In the dark night of the Holy Saturday I felt the first steps of my son fully dressed of light." Just ask Him. He'll say, "Watch out therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house will come, in the evening or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning, lest he come suddenly and find you asleep" (Mk 13: 33-37). At night - in that fleeting space in between darkness and light - rootes the genius and the sanctity of Jesus of Nazareth, who was taken up at night to pray and get charge of Eternal, because at night is subtle and better the impact of the bucket into the well, the song of the fire, the thud of an apple, the gloomy words on the threshold, the cry of the baby. The things that never go out: the ones of God and His adventurers. God's people waiting to enter the Promised Land, Moses waits for a sign in the middle of the desert, Mary waits for a sign waiting for Golgotha - "Tell me, my son, how long do have I to wait for you" - the disciples living

in expectation the Kingdom. Who expects fro Him, it makes it just for a simple warning, human before than Christian: "Why (He) would not come suddenly and find you sleeping." It is the sleep of those who no longer hopes,  of those ones who cross the threshold of the house and no longer feels the beat of a wait. It falls asleep who doesn't know how to dream and imagine, read and build his own motivation again, scan the horizon and let be looked on his face. Who does not think, do not walk, who doesn't insist to understand the "why" of either the world and the history. Should He not find you sleeping, or outside the house, as the virgins that stayed without oil right close to the Bridegroom approaching. We never forget to ourselves to have lost right that moment of heaven for which we were born and in which we grew up, because God's footsteps come unexpected like love is surprising, right the same of Love that keeps us , demanding equal to the love that knows his insatiable fascination. He will come in the guise of a thief to snatch from our womb all the  desperation  and fill it with carefully chosen words, of flowers that seems like thoughts, of roses  taking the alignment of the presence,  of songs that make the underworld of the night to dance, of stars still able to whisper hopeful space of heaven. Over there, in the deep, crossed between a cave and the shell of the universe, kindled the light of a star: the suspicion is that this year God has decided to Re-Bet on the man so full of mystery and awaiting, He created. The expectation that he asks is the other side of love.
