Daniel Barreto selected Marissa Saenz from Admissions & Records as our next superhero!
Daniel says, “Marissa demonstrates good judgment when it comes to good customer service.
She always goes to great lengths to help me when I need help in the admissions department. I
have always received quality service with Marissa, and she knows just what to do to solve my
problem quickly and restore the student’s confidence in our admission process. Such great
service builds great working relationships with other departments.”
Congratulations Marissa!

This free, two-day outreach/recruitment Conference
was developed to provide outreach into our
community to a much underserved population:
women who are considering a return to school who
are often overlooked in traditional outreach
efforts. Conference workshops provide information
on topics such as overcoming fears and gaining
confidence in order to reach personal and
educational goals. Information on GED preparation
and testing, college enrollment, financial aid, and
short-term technical certificate programs as well as personal and professional development is provided. This
year's conference will also highlight a career fair!

Team,
We are excited to announce a new and innovative approach to professional development for
our staff at San Antonio College. We have invested in a Service-Centered Training Series from
SoftSkills Professionals. This series is comprised of four modules: 1) Defining Service in Higher
Education Environments, 2) The External Customer Concept in Higher Education, 3) Internal
Customers, 4) Dealing with Difficult Customers and How to Say No. This training is custom de-
signed for higher education, with higher-education related assessments, scenarios, and exer-
cises. The modules are online and allow for the convenience and flexibility that we require
during these busy times. Each module contains a training video, a downloadable workbook,
and a certificate upon completion of the modules.
These modules will offer new ideas but also serve as a refresher for our staff who already do
an outstanding job. We are confident that these trainings will enhance our teamwork, com-
munication, and most importantly the service we deliver to our students. I ask that we fully
support the staff that will participate in these trainings and encourage their commitment to
completing the series.
Individuals selected to participate in these trainings will receive separate communication with registration dates and information on how to register. If you have any questions regard-ing the training or the registration, please contact Chaye Pena at [email protected].
Thank you,
Dr. Robert Vela
