A Message from Fr. Larry Dear Brothers and Sisters, Not long ago in our celebration of Holy Week and Easter. Jesus was at the last supper with some of his closest followers. He told them he gives peace, but not as the world offers peace. He told them his was the only peace that lasts. In the coming weeks in our Gospels we will hear that Christ's Resurrected message is usually, 'Peace be with you'... So whatever else we have or do not have, need or want…we have the Peace of Christ. God bless us all!

~ Fr. Larry

This week we have begun initiating e-Giving through eCatholic. These weekly bulletins and our webpage will give you more information on how to sign-up for it.

In Christ, Fr. Larry

Each year, on the Second Sunday of Easter, the Church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday. Mankind’s need for the message of Divine Mercy took on dire urgency in the 20th century, when civilization again began to lose the understanding of the sanctity and inherent dignity of human life.

Prayer | Order In the 1930s, Jesus chose a humble Polish nun, St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, to receive private revelations concerning Divine Mercy that were recorded in her Diary. St. Faustina’s Diary records 14 occasions when Jesus requested that a Feast of Mercy be observed. On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of St. Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter would also henceforth be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.

Santa Rosa Pantry & Outreach (Saint Vincent de Paul) Today is the Second Sunday of Easter… a time of rejoicing in the Lord…the poor you will always have with you and now we will always have the Lord with us…again I saw Rejoice.

This is a recap of our spending for March, a time to think about where we have been and where we are headed. Santa Rosa Food Pantry: We spent $8,323.62 providing food assistance to 283 families, 13 were new families (their first time). We served 25 families through our Diaper Ministry (baby formula & diapers). We served 128 seniors through HOPE (Healthy OPtions for the Elderly). We served 86 children in the Florence Elementary School. A total of 21,529 pounds of food was distributed. The total number of individuals served was 1,107, over half were children. Saint Vincent de Paul / Santa Rosa Outreach: We spent a total of $5,918.49 in direct assistance to help our neighbors.

$3, 030.47 on rent assistance, $648.74 on utilities (water, electricity, propane), and $400.00 on transportation.

Requests for rent assistance are rising rapidly as more and more individuals are unemployed because of the virus.

If you can help a neighbor in need please mail your blue envelope to Church or take advantage of the new electronic funding option listed in the bulletin.

If you know of anyone in need of direct assistance, please ask them to call us at 254.317.2891.

The Caring Place Want to Help? Due to thrift store closures at The Caring Place, the organization is losing an average of $37,500 per week in revenue. This loss in income is critical to The Caring Place as it would normally cover all of The Caring Place's operating expenses. Dedicated staff are still receiving, packaging and distributing food to hundreds of families multiple times a week during this pandemic.

At this time, we ask you to consider financially supporting The Caring Place. The Caring Place can purchase food in bulk at a reduced rate from the Central Texas Food Bank.

You can donate at www.caringplacetx.org/donate. You may also send checks to P.O. Box 1215, Georgetown, Texas, 78627.

The Caring Place requests that the community follow it on Facebook @thecaringplace for the latest information or activity changes at the organization. You can also sign up for the organization’s electronic newsletter at www.caringplacetx.org/newsletter.

COVID-19 Response In response to COVID-19 concerns, as well as the safety and well-being of all who come to The Caring Place, we are announcing the following immediate changes in operations:

Both thrift stores, The Shops at The Caring Place located at 2000 Railroad Avenue and Second Helping at 3700 Williams Drive, are closed until further notice.

Donations drive through at 2000 Railroad Avenue is closed until further notice. Item pick-ups are suspended. Please do not leave items for The Caring Place at this time.

Programs & Services at 2001 Railroad Avenue is closed until further notice.

Food Pantry services will continue in a modified format. The Food Pantry will operate out of the Donations drive through on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. If you walk to The Caring Place you will find distribution beside our north gate.

The Daily Bread program is discontinued at this time.

These procedures will be re-evaluated daily as needed.
