A Message from the PastorHappy Autumn everyone!
It doesn't feel much like autumn yet, but surely it will soon!
October promises to be a busy month. We begin with World Communion Sunday, a day we celebrate the Lord’s Supper with other faithful Christians throughout the world.
World Communion Sunday is a celebration observed by several Christian denominations, taking place on the first Sunday of every October, that promotes Christian unity and ecumenical cooperation. It focuses on an obser-vance of the eucharist. The tradition was begun in 1933

by Hugh Thomson Kerr who ministered in the Shadyside Presbyterian Church. According to Presbyterian Outlook:
Davitt S. Bell (the late Clerk of Session and church histo-rian at Shadyside) recalled that Dr. Kerr first conceived the notion of World Communion Sunday during his year as moderator of the General Assembly (1930). Dr. Kerr's younger son, the Rev. Dr. Donald Craig Kerr, who is pas-tor emeritus of the Roland Park Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, was sixteen in 1933. He has related that World Communion Sunday grew out of the Division of Steward-ship at Shadyside. It was their attempt to bring churches together in a service of Christian unity—in which every-one might receive both inspiration and information, and above all, to know how important the Church of Jesus Christ is, and how each congregation is interconnected one with another.
It was then adopted throughout the US Presbyterian Church in 1936 and subsequently spread to other de-nominations. In 1940, the Federal Council of Churches (now the National Council of Churches), led by Jesse Moren Bader, endorsed World Communion Sunday and began to promote it to Christian churches worldwide.
On the Friday following World Communion Sunday, we will have the Port-a-Pit BBQ Chicken mission fundraiser. This is a wonderful opportunity to be in fellowship with our community, while raising funds to help others. We are fortunate to have so many folks willing to volunteer in ser-vice for this fundraiser! And we are grateful for Troop 200 with their dedication in cleaning up after this all day event.

I will be off October 15-29. During this time, I will be out of town to parts that I have never been before! New Mexico will hold some new adventures for me as I explore what’s out there and enjoy some time with colleagues at the Ghost Ranch retreat center. I look forward to sharing my experiences when I return.
During my time away, if you have a pastoral lead please contact any one of the elders and they will be glad to help in anyway possible.
While I am looking forward to this trip to New Mexico, I also I am excited as November begins our third year in ministry together!
I am grateful for each and everyone of you!
We have done some remarkable things in ministry and mission!
I look forward to continuing to work together for the future of Christ’s Church here at Ramah.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Brian

Ramah Preschool Prayer Partners
The Ramah Preschool Board would like to encourage all Ramah members to “adopt” a preschooler as your prayer partner this year — and for as long as they are attending our preschool. This is an opportunity to pray for a preschool child and their teacher throughout the year. You can pick up your Prayer Partner cards in the narthex on Sunday.
Contact Kim (Scott) Bradford if you have any questions about this new endeavor.
New Cleaning Crew
We also have a new cleaning crew from Mint Condition. Their names are Jackie and Paul Price. They drive a white Ford Fusion and they clean between the times of 2PM and 8PM.

Preschool HappeningsPreschool has been in full force with everyone getting in the routine of school. The children and teachers are excited to enter each day with great things to see and do.
For the month of September we have been talking about farming. This includes things being planted and growing as well as animals on the farm. Fun on the Farm Day is always very fun for everyone to take part in. The students get to sheer a sheep, milk a cow, and get syrup from a tree. (All pretend of course)
Johnny Appleseed Day is observed in September also. We had a great visit from Johnny Appleseed himself. The kids loved hearing of his tales and having him read to them.
Now we move into October... pumpkins, colored leaves, and Halloween!
