STEP 2

Throw the rescue sling

Take the rescue sling marked 2 out of its case. Start sailing your ship and throw the rescue sling down the side of the shipon which the person gone overboard should be lifted back on board. The fastest and safest way to get the person gone overboard at the end of the floating rope is to throw the rescue sling intothe water at an early stage.the water at an early stage. Thus, the floating rope is already completely unstrapped from both pockets when it reaches theperson gone overboard. Sail around the person in the water from a safe distance and at low speed. As soon as the person in the water is in contactwith the floating rope, stop the sailing ship. Wait until the person is fastened to the end of the floating rope. This can be donein two ways:1. Hook the red snap hook into an appropriate place on the life jacket.2. Position the rescue sling around the upper part of the rescued person2. Position the rescue sling around the upper part of the rescued person’s body and under his/her armpits. In poor visibility conditions or at night, the person gone overboard can signal that they are safely fastenedby using the whistle (which is located on the red snap hook). IMPORTANT: Only after the red snap hook is hooked into the life jacket or the rescue sling ispositioned around his/her body, can a person gone overboard start with step 3.

STEP 1

Hooking the pulley in

IMPORTANT: Before starting your journey, ensure that the appropriate hooking points are available on your shipand that all adequate technical provisions are established. For more information on this topic see.at our website:www.catchandlift.me among Technical, Specifications.. Open the case.Open the case. Take out the pulley marked 1. Hook in the pulley at the end of the boom (topping lift) or, alternatively, ifavailable, at the C & L wire clamp (shrouds). The pulley should be hooked in on the side of the sailing ship, on which the person gone overboard should be lifted back onboard.

STEP 3

Throw the sea anchor

Make sure that the person in the water is fastened to the end of the floating rope. Take a sea anchor marked 3 out of itscase. Start sailing at a low speed (< 1 knot). Throw the sea anchor down the side of the ship on which the person goneoverboard should be lifted back on board. Throughout the rescue procedure, manoeuvre the sailing ship in such a way thatthe ship gains distance from the sea anchor (the sea anchor must be aft).Remain at the rudder and Remain at the rudder and regulate the return speed of the person gone overboard through the forwardspeed of the sailing vessel.Continue observing the person in the water and ensure that the return speed is not too high. If you wish to interruptthe return process, stop the sailing ship.

If the person gone overboard has reached the ship, but is still in the water, the lifting procedure is appropriate at this time.Additionally, slowly increase the forward speed.Once the person gone overboard is back on board, stop the ship and secure the person with a life belt. It is only at this stagethat the person should be untied from the end of the Cthat the person should be untied from the end of the CATCH and LIFT system. Our recommendation: do not attempt to retrieve the rescue system in case of emergency. Remove the pulley marked1 (a sailing ship must be brought to a standstill) and throw the pulley overboard, including all the life-saving equipmenthooked into it.Attend to the rescued person.
