During our recent planning study, several questions about the idea of a capi-tal campaign arose. As we are now going forward with the campaign (logo above), over the next several weeks, I will be using this space to address some of the more frequently asked questions. If you missed the previous questions, just go to our website—sugarlandcatholic.com. 8. How can I participate? Can I pledge over time? Our campaign offers a wide range of gift opportunities to participate at all levels. You may choose a plan that provides you with flexibility and time to complete the payment of your pledge. Because our needs are urgent, we encourage you to complete your pledge within three years. 9. Is my pledge legally binding? Will it be confidential? No, a pledge is a gift, one you consider to be meaningful. All we ask is that you do your best and advise us of any financial changes that will impact your pledge. All pledges will be kept confidential as possible. Only the people responsible for maintaining the records will have access to your pledge. 10. How are pledge requests determined? We base our gift request amounts on giving history and answers given in the planning study. We ask that you consider a gift above your normal support. 11. Who will be asked to support the campaign? Every registered household of St. Theresa, along with staff and non-parish school families, will be asked for their consideration of a gift to the cam-paign. 12. How will our campaign affect parish offertory? In the short term, offertory giving is expected to remain constant. Through the effort, volunteers will ask parishioners to make pledges above and be-yond regular giving. Parishioners are not asked to diminish giving to the par-ish but, rather, to consider a commitment above their normal tithe. In the long term, similar campaigns have caused increases in parish offertory by raising the sights of parishioners and their commitment to the church.

P A W P A ? Perpetual Adoration is a Eucharistic devotion whereby members of a given parish (or other entity) unite in taking hours of adoration before the Most Blessed Sacrament (in most cases, exposed), both during the day and throughout the night, seven days a week. W ? To see Jesus visibly present under the appearance of the small white host is much more conducive to intimacy than hidden away in the taber-nacle. Moreover, it adds an extra responsibility on the adorers to be sure to be faithful to the hours they are scheduled, since the suggested norm for having Jesus exposed in the monstrance is that there should be at least two adorers present, and He must never be left alone. Could not these words of our Lord be applied today: "Indeed, this is the will of My heavenly Father, that everyone who looks upon the Son, and believes in Him, shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the last day." W P A ? To provide an easy, attractive, and practical way of rendering God ado-ration which is His due as our Creator, of giving Him thanks for our re-demption, of making reparation for our sins and the sins of mankind; of petitioning the good God for the constant help we need. To show our gratitude to our Lord for remaining among us in our taber-nacles, and to make at least some atonement for the many sacrileges, indifferences, and ingratitude which He receives in His Sacrament of Love. W

P A ? • an increase in Mass attendance and reception of the sacraments; • return of fallen-away Catholics and increase in the number of con-

versions; • increase in religious and priestly vocations; • renewal of Catholic family life; • spiritual level of the people is raised with a resulting desire and

courage to spread the "good news" to others; • a greater community spirit, centered as it is on the heart of the par-

ish, Jesus' presence in the Blessed Sacrament. H I ? For more information, or to inquire about how to become an adorer, please contact Rebecca Freeman at 281-844-4616.

PRAYER OF SPOUSES FOR EACH OTHER

Lord Jesus, grant that my spouse and I may have a true and understanding love for each other. Grant that we

may both be filled with faith and trust. Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses and grow from each oth-er’s strengths. Help us to forgive one another’s failings and grant us patience, kindness, cheer-fullness and the spirit of

placing the well-being of one another ahead of self. May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each

passing year. Bring us both ever closer to You through our love for each other. Let our love grow to perfection, for

You live and reign with the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

G S M : The hopelessness and sadness that comes from experiencing the loss of a loved one can leave us frozen in place, just trying to cope with everyday life. Support groups are an important tool for finding hope and coping tools on this journey. We are a group of compassionate lay people who also have experienced the death of someone we dearly loved. Join us to listen and share, because no one should grieve alone! For more information please contact Sandy Barber at 832-451-9117 or [email protected]. Perpetual Adoration Ministry: The perpetual adoration ministry is a Eucharistic devotion where people commit to taking an hour to praise and worship Jesus before the Most Blessed Sac-rament. The hour you sign up for is spent in silent prayer and meditation. You may bring your own prayer books, use the books in the chapel, read the Bible, pray the rosary, or just sit and enjoy the peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of God. Adoration is in the Emmaus Chapel, it is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For more information please contact Re-becca Freeman (281) 844-4616. C U : Our vision is to be a service ministry organi-zation, effectively using our gifts and talents to serve the needs within and outside our community. Our mission is to actively encourage involvement in church activities by members of our Spanish-speaking community, to take the lead in celebrating reli-gious feasts, to be available and lend a helping hand to both the church and fellow parishioners, and to promote higher education by granting scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are registered parishioners. For more information please contact George Morales, Jr. at 281-565-5469. L C M : The Lay Carmelites are an order, not an organization. They are one of the oldest religious orders that follow the contemplative life. They live their daily lives in a secular society, evangelizing, serving, and following the examples of the many Carmelite Saints. For more infor-mation please contact Tonie Arizpe at 832-715-6281. P C : The Pastoral Council is made up of 12 members elected to three-year terms who represent parishioners, parish ministries, and parish organiza-tions. The Council serves in a consultative capacity with the Pastor by bringing forth concerns from the community and working with the Pastor to resolve them. The Council also coordinates parish events and helps the parish meet the needs of the parishioners. The Council meets month-ly. Alan Phipps is the current Chairman: 281-410-1856.
