Report of Managing Committee - Annexure-IIDear Members,

I am hugely honoured and immensely pleased to present the 8th Annual Report of the Managing Committee. In achieving its aims, the Society has been active throughout the period and since the last report the following activities took place :

MEMBERS: Association kept pursuing the new members on it rolls through contacts and convincing the fresh pass outs to join enthusing fresh blood to carry on the show... this yielded excellent results and the association not only had monetary benefits but also have streamlined members database. Further many members started enrolling online the option shall soon be extended for existing members and also use of international cards/banks shall be provided shortly.

19th, November, SJA Annual Sports Meet 2016-2017Our Alma Mater, St. Joseph's Academy, Dehradun celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 19th November 2016, in its vast sports ground with great zeal and fervour. The sports meet was declared opened by our illustrious Alumni serving Air Marshall RD Mathur AVSM, VSM who was accompanied by his better half Mrs. Shipra Mathur gracing the occasion. Chief Guest hosted the flag. The event commenced with a bang school captains running in with Torch backed by Teachers and prefects on Motorcycles the highlight being Namita Lal Mam driving motor bike!!! Brother Rajesh declared the meet open. The little ones of kindergarten put stole each and everyone heart by their Walk Past conveying the message “Eat Healthy stay fit”!!! Mesmerising P.T. Display by classes I, II & III.The events were further carried on with the Inter House baton relay 4x100 Mts of all the categories Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior. Accepting the school request, not to lag behind, the SJA alumni enthusiastically participated in the Inviatational relay race the Alumni Team .

18th, December, Annual Alumni Gala reunion Lunch 2016!!!More than four hundred Jospehites attended an Annual Alumni Gala reunion this Sunday. The dazzling gala event took place on the afternoon of 18th, December, 2016 at the SJA Hockey field.Event was also graced by the attendance of the Alma Mater Principal and Patron of Association Brother Dennis Joseph and Brother Superior Benedict and along with the members SJA Alumni Association as well as past and present Teachers.The Gala Reunion as stated was very special occasion where alumni came together to salute their alma mater, celebrated with families and friends, and enjoyed a fantastic sun drenched afternoon... Apart from Past Teachers this year the Managing Committee also invited present teachers' to seek their blessings which enthralled both teachers and Students. Such events afford ex-students of the Alma Mater an opportunity to network and interact with other Josephites pursuing various careers.I hope you all who were present on the 18th enjoyed .We request you to stay connected by visiting the school as often as you can! Several events are organized by the Alumni Association for you to do so and would continue doing it in near future...

26th January, Republic Day Celebrations at our Alma Mater 2017!!!

68th Republic Day was celebrated in the school premises with enthusiasm and fervour. Major General P. K. Gosain

Josephite batch of 1958, presided over the function.

He was presented bouquets by Managing Committee SJA Alumni Association and escorted by other senior Alumni

members and school council members. He was given a warm reception by the Brother Dennis Joseph SJA

coordinators and Brother Superior Benedict… the euphoria in his eyes on reaching the school campus so

unmistakable…

The programme began with the introduction of Chief Guest, to commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, the

Chief Guest along with Principal Dennis Joseph unfurled the tricolour flag and all the present in unison sang the

national anthem and expressed the joy of freedom. Thereafter Chief Guest along with Brother Dennis Joseph was

escorted to Archive/ Alumni Room by MC Members where the entire Class IV employees of Alma Mater 62 in

numbers were provided blankets by SJA Alumni Associations as a token of thanks for their untiring efforts in

maintaining and up keeping our Alma Mater... Chief Guest was offered high tea, sweets along with hot Samosas!

To culminate the celebrations Principal thanked Chief Guest, and rightly called him “A Book on Indian History”

thanked MC SJA Alumni Association, Co-ordinators, Teachers, Students and staff for their outstanding effort. As

the luck would have the wife of martyred Soldier Lt. Col. Rajesh Gulati Alumni Batch of 1993 (who was awarded

Sena Medal posthumously on Army Day) was among us and was felicitated by Brother Dennis honouring the

Immortal Soldier who laid his life fighting the enemies...

17th , February, 2017 Dehradun Literature Fest !!

SJA AA supported the first Dehradun Literature Fest, held on 17th and 18th February, 2017 at ONGC Officer's

Club. An event planned and execute by our alumni and past president Randhir K Arora. This 2 Day event featured

work by authors whose heritage lies in the Indian subcontinent, as well as those who had written about a subject

connected to any aspect of that part of the world. Featuring veteran as well as emerging authors along with

publishers and literary agents in order to create exciting discussions surrounding the various genres and themes

represented.

6th April 2017 Formation of Delhi Chapter!!

A New Delhi Chapter Council was formulated because the previous council had completed its term.

A meeting regarding same was organised at Cafeteria of Korean Cultural Center, 25A, Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar- 4,

at 4.00 PM on 6th of April 2017, all the members who had shown their willingness were duly informed in time to

meet Managing Committee and conduct the formalities.

The following Managing Committee members were also present in the meeting:

In a very positive and pleasing conversation MC formulated the Delhi Chapter Council Mr. Rajiva Singh (Former

Coordinator) was nominated as Ex Officio member, which was prerequisite as per Chapter Bye Laws, Ms. Kalpana

Pande was given the responsibility of Chapter Coordinator, Mr. Joy Jain as Treasurer, Mr. Dilpreet Singh Grover as

Secretary and the youngest of all Mr. Pranav Khanna as the Member forming the core team which we all believe

would spread the wings of our Association.

The biggest joy MC member had was when Mr. Raman Bhatia our dearest and regarded senior member (1968

Batch) accepted the request to act as a Patron of Delhi Chapter working in tandem with Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Arora

(Vice President – Outstation) based in Delhi to guide and mentor the Chapter Council.

13th May 2017-New Delhi Reunion Dinner:

The newly formed Delhi Chapter Council of SJA Alumni Association to alleviate bonds among Josephite

community organised its first alumni reunion dinner on 13th May 2017, at Hotel African Avenue, Greater Kailash-I,

New Delhi.

The event was a sparkling affair the enthusiasm among senior alumni was a pleasant surprise, The council members

of Delhi Chapter and MC members from Dehradun had arrived at the venue quite early to overlook the

arrangements and they all welcomed guests warmly. The Reunion commenced with the Chapter Coordinator Ms

Kalpana Pandey introducing the Chapter Team to the present Alumni members. After the introduction she invited

all present to introduce themselves . Present on the occasion were alumni from 1955 to 2016 batches .

Sumptuous Dinner was served and at the end President Praveen Chandhok accompanied by Navneet Oberoi Vice

President, Jatinder Bhatia Secretary and Randhir K.Arora former President thanked the entire gathering, informing

them the work this renowned association has carried since its inception and humbly requested all those present to

donate toward the benevolent fund which shall help the association in funding the needy Alumni Children and

students for their education and also gave away mementos to the esteemed guests.

HUGE THANKS to all alumni and friends who joined us for these fantastic events. They were amazing, and we

look forward to being with them again!

Our very SPECIAL THANKS to M.S. Dhillon, Brigadier Anil Harnal, Valentine Nihjawan, Ravinder Rawat,

Manmohan Marwah and Sanjeev Chabbra whose presence raised the spirits of all those who took pains to organise

the reunion we all hope that they will continue to support and guide association to new horizons... We shall remain

obliged.

25TH JUNE 2017, Sunday GST Workshop:

A seminar on Goods and Service Tax (GST) was organised on Sunday, 25th June 2017, 10.00 AM at Audio Visual

Room (AV) St. Joseph's Academy.

The seminar was organised by SJA Alumni Association, team of Chartered Accountants from M/s N. Kumar Gupta

& Associates, highlighted the contents of GST.

Brother Babu Varghese Principal St. Joseph's Academy, patron SJA Alumni Association along with Brother

Solomon, Principal St. Patrick Academy graced the occasion and were welcomed by the SJA AA President.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ajay Singh from Commercial Tax Department, Dehradun and CA Naveen Kumar

Gupta were also present in the programme they too were welcomed by the President and Managing Committee

members.

Brother Babu Varghese concluded the programme by requesting all the participants to be an honest tax payers.

15th July, 2017, Felicitation Ceremony 2017:

Carrying on the tradition SJA Alumni Association conducted the Felicitation Ceremony once the school reopened

after summer vacation to celebrate the success of our young achievers who appeared for both ISC and ICSE Boards

this year on Saturday, 15th July, 2017, 7.30 AM at our Alma Mater, but this time yet again the awards were

distributed during the school assembly an added benefit of being able to witness school assembly once again!

Experiencing the aura of our Alma Mater and reliving our school days...

To salute Josephites and thank them for putting in hard work resulting in success, thereby swelling the hearts of

Josephite fraternity with pride...

This ceremony was only been possible by the encouragement and support of our Patron Bro. Babu Varghese who

is in the forefront to encourage students and being the Patron of association he recommended cash price along with

trophies, the toppers of Science and Commerce (ISC) securing top three and ICSE were also handed over cheques

along with glowing trophies ...

5th September 2017, Teachers Day Celebrations!!!!

The Managing Committee SJA Alumni Association joined the school celebrations on Teacher's Day on 5th

September 2017, the celebration commenced at 10.30 AM.

The entire staff assembled at School Library to commence the celebrations by cutting the cake the Senior most

Teacher and Junior most Teachers did the honours along with Principal Babu Varghese, Vice Principal Binoi and

Managing Committee Members.

The venue for the ceremonies shifted to the School Auditorium. The programme was celebrated in a truly

Josephite Spirit.

There was solemnity and fun too! Upon request of our Patron Brother Babu Varghese , this year the Association

honoured two teachers viz Ms. Vimi Sondhi and Ms. Sikha Bisht for their Punctuality and Regularity. Ms. Vimi

Sondhi had 100% attendance since past five years and Ms. Sikha Bisht had 100% attendance since past three

years. Apart from mementos the Teachers were also given cash prize of Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 3000/- respectively for

their efforts.

Mr. Virender Rautela heading the sporting coach and mentor of the students was also given a cash prize of Rs.

5000/- for his dedication and devotion. Due to paucity of time the games planned for the Teachers had to be

shelved, but the gifts were generously distributed. The members of Managing Committee joined Principal Brother

Babu Varghese, Vice Principal Brother Binoi and Brother Aditya for the distribution gifts the entire Teaching and

administrative staff.

On this special day the Association arranged a sumptuous Lunch at school for all the past , present Teachers and

the members of School Council serving whole lot of mouth watering dishes, scrumptious cake, at SJA

Auditorium.

The entire senior school council joined the occasion and said that the role of teachers has remained the same. They

were and were the guides, creating conditions conducive to the overall development and the students will always

be thankful for their constructive support.

(Treasurer),Jatinder Bhatia (Secretary), Dr. Alok Jain (Member), Sonali Mehta (Member), Mohit Rajvanshi

(Member), Sachin Aggarwal (Member), Raghav Sharma (Member), Abhinav Goel (Member), Swabhavi

Aggarwal (Member), Randhir Arora (Past President) , Vijay Vachani, Vikas Dewan, Ambuj Oberoi, Anurag

Sanghal, Kapil Anand, Saurabh Bhatnagar and many more who paid their tribute to their Mentors and other out

station members who could not grace the occasion sent their messages through e-mail.

The Principal Brother Babu Varghese addressing the Teachers' emphasised on the importance of Teachers' role in

the society, Teachers develop key relationships as role models and mentors to nurture, to inspire and to challenge.

Teachers support learners of all ages from kindergarteners to adult learners.

We all were deeply honoured to witness the august group of teachers' ensemble here at our very own Alma Mater

and felt privileged being part of school ceremony to recognise their role in our upbringing...

2nd October 2017, Blood Donation Camp:

The SJA Alumni Association in coordination with the Sri Mahant Indresh Hospital (Blood Bank) Dehradun,

Press Partner "Amar Ujala Foundation" and "Garhwal Post” organised “Voluntary Blood Donation Camp” at

the School Auditorium on 2nd October 2017.

The Camp began at 9.00 am till 5.00 pm. at the St. Joseph's Academy- Auditorium to an overwhelming response

more than 100 volunteers out which 81 were able to donate and sadly more than 20 were rejected due to recent

infections, under medication and low HB apart from Josephites even E-Rotarions were present, the noteworthy

aspect being the senior Alumni like Mr. Rajeev Nangia and Ashok Ahuja being in forefront and showing great

enthusiasm to donate blood!!!

This year SJA Alumni Association and Amar Ujala Foundation also felicitated and recognised the Outstanding

Donors of capital the certificate and memento of recognition were given by the Chief Guest Cabinet Minister

Prakash Pant and Chief Minister Health Advisor Dr. Naveen Balooni the recipients were instrumental in

encouraging people, organizations and establishment to come forward and donate blood.

The Ceremony commenced by lightning the lamp by the Chief Guest Cabinet Minister Prakash Pant, Special

Guest Chief Minister Health Advisor Dr. Naveen Balooni , Brother Babu Varghese Principal St. Joseph's

Academy Patron SJA Alumni Association and President SJA Alumni Association Praveen Chandhok.

Praveen Chandhok President, Navneet Oberait Oberai Vice President, Jatinder Bhatia Secretary, Deepak

Bakshi Treasurer, Dr. Alok Jain, Sachin Aggarwal, Mohit Rajvanshi, Abhinav Goel, Raghav Sharma, Sonali

Mehta and Swabhavi Agarwal of the SJA Alumni Association pledged that the association shall devotedly carry

more such social activities with the help and support of Josephites, and also encourage Doonites to come

forward for their participation in this noble cause.

20th October, 2017 , SJAA ANNUAL SPORTS MEET:

Bright and sundrenched morning of 20th October 2017, a tradition which was set in 2012 as most of the

Alumni's residing out of Doon visit their home town to celebrate Diwali are given a chance to once again play

with the old teammates, reliving the memories, competing against each other and winning Medals in 7 different

sports tournaments across campus.

A day simply not to be missed! Commencing at 7.00 am at the SJA Tennis Court, Big Field, Basket Ball Court,

and culminating at Auditorium with some stunning badminton matches, breathtaking shots being hit in the

finals were awesome.

And this year the introduction of Air Pistol and Rifle shooting added altogether a new charm to the event and

Josephites overwhelmingly chose to shoot!

This year as promised the event was bigger and better supported by Doon Institute of Shooting and Sports,

Dehradun. The institute is run by our Alumni Mayank Marwah a national coach who has produced national

shooters in his arena.

The Alumni Sports Meet, as indicated by the name, is all about the alumni and we are thankful for the alumna's

enthusiastic participation in the same.

The prizes were distributed among the winners of the Alumni sports meet by Patron Brother Babu Varghese,

Praveen Chandhok President SJA AA, Navneet Oberai Vice President SJA AA, Jatinder Bhatia Secretary SJA

AA, Deepak Bakshi Treasurer SJA AA, Former President SJA AA Randhir K Arora, The evergreen Seniors

Alumni possessing an unbelievable sportsman spirit who have been proud participants in all the previous Sports

Meet Rajeev Nangia, Pixie Sardana, Harimohan, Dev Raj Adhirana! Along with Jaideep Datta.

Overall “Alumni Sports Meet 2017” meet was a splendid success and all the alumni were thrilled to be a part of

this event as they think that events like this are a great platform for reviving old friendships and meeting family

members of their friends.

10th July 2016 Lawn mower Donated:

We all love Monsoons. It's full of freshness and greenery. It seems like that all of a sudden, everything becomes

lively. Days are full of dark clouds dancing and nights full of frog croaking sounds... and the grass in field and

lawn grows at lightening speed...

Realising this MC came forward to donate lawn mower to their Alma Mater to help in maintaining the lawns...

Thanks Pranav Singhal and Raghav Sharma for taking the initiative...

13th July 2016 Donation of Cricket Accessories to School:

The Alumni have always had the pleasure and honor of using sporting facilities of their Alma Mater specially

when the Alumni Sports our annual event is organized and this year we were in the forefront using cricket nets and

Big Field for the preparations of "Symphony" the 20-20 match between SJA Alumni Association and Cambrian

Hall Association...

To thank our Alma Mater and our Patron reverend Brother Dennis Joseph who has been an outstanding support

for all such events and providing us not only the sporting facilities but also the encouragement to achieve our set

goals the winning cricket team joined hands and the MC donated five Cricket Bats as a token of thanks to express

their gratitude.

Sport at school is very popular, and inclusive. A donation for sports equipment would allow a boost to stocks

for the students to nurture their talent...

22nd July 2016 Medical camp 2016:

A special event of Medical camp organized by SJA Alumni Association, at their Alma Mater on 18th July 2016

culminated yesterday on 22nd July 2016. The camp was conducted by our own Alumni Medical Doctors for the

kindergarten and junior students… Dr. Gaurav Luthra and staff, Dr. Alok Jain along with his soulmate Dr. Shweta

Jain and Dr. DeepaliTomar tirelessly tested/screened children for continuous five days…

The support of Teachers in screening the Kindergarten students is topmost which not only includes managing the

children but collecting the prescriptions and subsequently ensuring to brief the parents about doctors' advice the

only motive being the health of little ones...

This program was well appreciated by the principal Brother Dennis Joseph patron SJA Alumni Association spirit

behing all such activities and the Teachers.

The entire Managing Committee is deeply obliged for the noble gestures of Doctors and also expresses gratitude

to all those who assisted in making the camp a success.

28th October, 2017 SJA Annual Marathon!!!

St. Joseph's Academy organsied a "Short Marathon" on 28th October, 2017 in line to the school calendar. This is mainly to encourage mass participation and to instill values of promoting good health among students, teachers and community.

At 5.30 AM Principal Brother Babu Varghese flagged off the race of Senior Boys and Vice Principal Brother Binoi flagged off the race of Senior Girls. Students were briefed all formalities required to be fulfilled like getting tickets at check posts and returning the same on completion of race, not to follow short cut routes and to be mindful of their safety measures.

A total of App. 1900 students took part in the annual school marathon.

On Completion of race children were served Bananas and Juice by SJA Alumni Association! The theme for this years' marathon was “Sports build up self esteem and mental alertness.”

The school received a strong support and cooperation from the Uttarakhand Police. Two ambulances were also stationed for any emergency. In order to ensure safe, secure and minimal disturbances by the movement of vehicles, the Uttarakhand Police was kind enough to render generous support to school to control traffic from 6.00 AM t0 8.30 AM thereby helping school to conduct annual marathon successfully.

On the Ocassion the entire managing Committee was present helping the school staff and teachers.th12 November Cricket Encounter with St. Jude's Alumni:

An Impromptu T20 match was organised between the Alumnus of St. Joseph's Academy and St. Jude's Academy on 12th of November 2017!

A perfect sunny winter morning provided the perfect setting for a cricket match, led by Sharique Ali Khan and Anuj Anand, respectively. The mood was competitive but friendly. Mananbir Singh, Apoorv and Jagmeet Singh stood out with their performances for SJA AA. After a wonderful display of cricketing talents SJA Alumni Association had an easy win.

It was bonhomie all around roars of laughter and camaraderie being witnessed throughout... Medals to the winners were distributed by the Managing Committee members Praveen Chandhok President, Navneet Oberai Vice President, Jatinder Bhatia Secretary, Deepak Bakshi Treasurer, Alok Jain Senior Member, Abhinav Goel Member, Randhir and Manoj Devgun.

Both the associations are deeply obliged thanked Principal Brother Babu Vargehse for supporting and encouraging the fraternities for creating better and stronger relationship.
