“LIFE DOES NOT CONSIST IN THE ABUNDANCE OF POSSESSIONS”
In the Gospel of Matthew, we read the Sacred Words of Jesus where it says, "just as you do it to one of the least, you are members of my family, you did it to me" (Mt. 19:40). "I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you gave me clothing. I was sick and you took care of me. I was in prison and you visited me" (Mt. 19:35-6).
Such actions accumulate treasures in Heaven; they are credited to our names. Such actions accumulate spiritual treasures that will be rewarded one day. Are there other ways of accumulating treasures in Heaven? Yes, there are! By giving alms, your deeds are recorded in Heaven. By helping the elders to get to church on Sunday, or by providing them with transportation so they can do their weekly shopping of groceries: such deeds are recorded in Heaven. By helping the handicapped with their special needs, or by being a friend to the orphans, God will notice your goodness. These are just a few examples of many ways through which we can manifest love towards Jesus by manifesting love towards our neighbors. My brothers and sisters in Christ "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Mt. 6:19-21). This week, by the grace of the Heavenly Father, through the power of the Holy Spirit, in the Most Holy Name of Jesus, let us move forward in our spiritual growth with a new commitment. May our new commitment be to accumulate as many treasures in Heaven as we can. In the end, we can rest assured that we will not regret it.

MARKETING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
All Saints Academy seeks parish members to serve on a School Marketing Committee. This dynamic volunteer group will focus on marketing our school in many ways including: recruitment, communications, events, and branding. Experience in these key areas, as well as an understanding of Catholic education and non-profit organizations, is needed. Representatives from each of our four sponsoring parishes will be included in this important element of school governance. Please contact ASA Principal, Judith Berg, at [email protected] or at 973-334-4704 for more information.
ALL SAINTS ACADEMY CORNER
Back to School
With just a month to go for the official first day of the 2019-20 school year, All Saints Academy is preparing for an exciting opening day. As our eleventh year begins, we will welcome new and returning students and families. While our diocese experienced the
loss of several elementary schools in the late spring, it is fortifying to partner with so many families strongly committed to the importance and value of Catholic education. We are so pleased that All Saints Academy will continue to grow and succeed with all of our nearby community members! All Saints Academy registration for the 2019-20 school year is still open for our Early Childhood Center and primary grades. Enrollment paperwork for new students may be found on our website, www.allsaintspar.org. All Saints Academy is a nationally recognized STEM school of the Diocese of Paterson. Our school offers a comprehensive, multi-curricular, rigorous academic program, centered on values-based education. A strong and loving Catholic identity permeates the environment. In addition to religious instruction, students model Christian ideals through cooperative activities, spiritual and liturgical celebrations, participation in Sacraments, and service outreach. An active parent organization lends partnership and support to the school community. The Early Childhood Center offers classes for three and four year old children. The elementary and middle school classes include kindergarten through grade eight.
Contact our school principal, Mrs. Judy Berg, at 973-334-4704, to schedule a tour and classroom visit.

TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD – AUGUST 6
Before his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Christ climbed to a high point on Mount Tabor with his disciples Peter, James, and John. While Jesus prayed upon the mountain, his appearance was changed by a brilliant white light which shone from him and from his clothing. During this event, the Old Testament
figures of Moses and the prophet Elijah also appeared, and spoke of how Christ would suffer and die after entering Jerusalem, before his resurrection. […] on August 6, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI described how the events of the transfiguration display Christ as the “full manifestation of God's light.” This light, which shines forth from Christ both at the transfiguration and after his resurrection, is ultimately triumphant over “the power of the darkness of evil.” The Pope stressed that the feast of the Transfiguration is an important opportunity for believers to look to Christ as “the light of the world,” and to experience the kind of conversion which the Bible frequently describes as an emergence from darkness to light. “In our time too,” Pope Benedict said, “we urgently need to emerge from the darkness of evil, to experience the joy of the children of light!”
