Domestic violence is not a disagreement, an anger management issue,or a normal part of an intimate relationship; it is a systematic patternof abusive behavior with intent to gain and maintain power and control another person. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardlessof their race, religion, age, socio-economic background, level ofeducation, or sexual orientation. Domestic violence is a crime.

The Bergen County Office for Children provides parentswith assistance on choosing childcare, referrals to

childcare providers, and childcare subsidies. The officealsTrains, registers, and monitors family childcare

Parents applying for the Child Care Subsidy Program are required toprovide proof of income, training/school hours and household size. Parents must be a New Jersey resident and meet incomerequirements. Parents must be working full time, attending schoolfull time with 12+ credits, or in job training at least 20 hours a week. Children up to the age of 13 or less than the age of 19, if under theNJ Division of Child Protection and Permanency’s protectivesupervision or mentally or physically incapable of self-care, areeligible for subsidy. The child must be a US citizen or a qualifiednon-citizen. The child must reside with parent(s), or individual(s)acting as parent(s).

Income standard: The state agency's income standard mustfall under the federal poverty guidelines but cannot exceed 185percent of the federal poverty income guidelines.Automatic Income Eligibility: income-eligible for WIC basedon their participation in certain programs. These participantsinclude individuals eligible to receive SNAP benefits,Medicaid, or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

Nutritional Risk Requirement: Applicants must be seen by ahealth professional to determine whether the individual is atnutrition risk. This is often done in the WIC clinic at no cost. Theinformation needed can also be obtained from the applicant'sphysician.
