For those unable to attend in person and are participating in Mass from one of our live-streams (Saturday evening: 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM, or Sunday: 7:30 AM, 10:00 AM or 12:30 PM) or Catholic TV or Radio Mass, Holy Communion will be made available for reception to those parishioners, under the front portico of our Church at approximately 45 minutes after the start of one of our Mass times listed above.. Directions and information will be given through the live-stream. If you are unable to leave your car, please call our parish office at 717-766-9433 to discuss.

Be sure to “LIKE” & “SUBSCRIBE” to our Facebook and YouTube pages!

CHURCH CLEANING ASSISTANCE NEEDED ON SUNDAYS One of the requirements for our church while we are in the yellow phase, combating COVID-19, is to sanitize the church in between each Mass. The Knights of Columbus are coordinating our sanitizing teams, which should only take about 15-20 minutes after Mass is over if we have enough volunteers. If interested in assisting with this effort please go to our website and use the Time to Sign Up link: https://stjosephmech.org/church-cleaning. You do not have to be affiliated with the Knights of Columbus to assist with this effort. The link will be updated every Monday! Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! June 7, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org The Most Holy Trinity

WELCOME BACK TO OUR SPIRITUAL HOME! “It was so great being back home and finally being able to receive the Eucharist. I missed it so badly.” This is one of the email messages received after our GREAT re-opening weekend! It was a pretty emotional event for all of us. I cannot tell you how good it was to see and be with people in Church, gathering for worship, and being able to receive the Eucharist! Just as much of a blessing was the opportunity for our Drive-Thru Confessions that resumed on Saturday afternoons (we restarted this opportunity on May 23 and will continue to offer Confessions each Saturday from 1 – 2 PM) It is so good to be able to share such wonderful gifts after such a long time of sheltering at home. We saw about 400 worshippers across the 4 public Masses we offered for the Feast of Pentecost. The Masses also received over 3,700 views on social media as of this writing. Here are a few other messages that came in regarding our celebration of Pentecost: One of our elderly parishioners was “very happy with the wonderful job that Saint Joseph Parish did at the Saturday evening Mass over the weekend! Yay Saint Joe’s!!! Hope everyone is doing well!” “It was so great seeing you all and everyone else yesterday. The sanctuary looked so beautiful. The organ was incredible. I was at 12:30 Mass, and really got emotional… Seriously though, Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to our Parish. We’re so blessed to have each of you, and the whole staff. Please share my thoughts and gratitude with all of the volunteers who made yesterday possible as well.” “A big Thank you to all the parish staff and ushers for the terrific job done to provide a safe church to worship in, where all regulations for safety were in place. St. Joe’s gets an A++! See you again next Sunday.” “Thanks to all of you. We feel different today after being at Mass “live” and being able to receive the Eucharist. Of course I cried through the whole Mass but they were tears of joy. My husband smiled all the way home. “ “We were glad beyond words to be in church this morning. For me, entering a church is entering a state of mind that is not the same anywhere else. It was good to be back home.” Overall, things went as planned, but there are areas that need to be given attention. For instance, the audio portion of the livestream from the choir loft was not as good as we hoped. We will work on that and anticipate that our new livestream equipment will be arriving in the very near future. Please remember the 6:00 PM live-stream Mass (which offers an adequate picture, audio and ASL interpretation) from Brindle Hall. If anyone “attends” that Mass and would then like to receive Holy Communion, we will offer Holy Communion in the parking lot, beginning around 6:45 PM. Please drive up to the front portico of the Church, which will afford the minister of Holy Communion, rain or shine, an appropriate Communion station. If you are choosing to remain in your car during any of the public Masses, as some did, we will report to this outside Communion station at the end of each Mass. Some have expressed a dislike for wearing a mask, or the fact that the yellow phase guidelines require us to have no more than 1/3 capacity. For the safety and well-being of all, we have no choice but to put into effect what has been established by state government and our own Diocese. We ask you to do what is comfortable regarding Church attendance, remembering that Bishop Gainer has extended the dispensation from attending Mass during the pandemic. Should you choose to attend Mass, we ask you to respect the common good. We are still making our way through a historic pandemic. We will continue to offer what is best for our parish community. We thank you for understanding that the safety of everyone is of the highest priority. We are planning more video updates on our ever-refined procedures. Please check the parish website for these updates. We parish clergy are extremely grateful for all the assistance, especially from staff, our Knights of Columbus and our ministers of hospitality, in making our Pentecost celebration a truly historic event here at your spiritual home, Saint Joseph!

ⴕ INTRODUCTORY RITES

ⴕ THE LITURGY OF THE WORD First Reading • Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the Lord had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets. Having come down in a cloud, the Lord stood with Moses there and proclaimed his name, “Lord”. Thus the Lord passed before him and cried out, “The Lord, the Lord, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, “If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own.” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm • R ̷ Glory and praise forever!

Second Reading • 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Gospel Acclamation • Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia

Gospel • John 3:16-18

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer to Saint Michael Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

A FAMILY ACT OF THANKSGIVING AFTER RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION

This prayer can be recited in your car, or on the way to your car, after your family receives Holy Communion, led by a designated member of the family:

O good Jesus, We thank You with all our hearts for giving us Yourself,

the Source of all graces, in Holy Communion. We thank You for all the blessings that we have received from You,

especially through the Holy Eucharist, in which You are ever present to console us

and to help us in our needs.

In thanksgiving of all Your favors, We offer You all that we are and have.

May Your Will be done in our family and through each of us now and forever.

Recited together:

Jesus, receive this poor offering. What can I give you?

I give myself to You, that I may always serve You. I give You my body, that it may be chaste and pure.

I give You my soul, that it may be free from sin. I give You my heart, that it may always love You.

I give You every breath that I shall breathe, and especially my last;

I give You myself in life and in death, that I may be Yours forever and glorify You eternally.

AMEN.

In the School of the Holy Spirit Beginning Thursday, June 18th, our Abiding

Together women’s groups will be doing a special 3-part study of the book In the School of the Holy Spirit by Father Jacques Philippe (available on Amazon for $8.95 plus shipping). The study will run just like our usual weekly sessions, except we’ll be encouraged to read chapters from the book in advance. I say “encouraged” because it’s

not a requirement. You’ll still get plenty out of the podcast and discussion, even if you haven’t read the book. You can choose to participate at 11:30 AM or 7 PM each Thursday. We will listen to the hosts of the Abiding Together podcast talk about the book, then we’ll discuss our reactions, questions and thoughts in a small group. Hope you can participate! Contact Mary Vukelich at [email protected] to learn more!

Want a preview? Listen to the podcast for free using your favorite podcast app (iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, etc.)
