CHURCH CLEANING ASSISTANCE NEEDED ON SUNDAYS One of the requirements for our church while we are in the yellow /green phases, combating COVID-19, is to sanitize the church in between each Mass. The Knights of Columbus are coordinating our sanitizing teams, which should only take about 15-20 minutes after Mass is over. If interested in assisting with this effort please go to our website and use the Time to Sign Up link: https://stjosephmech.org/church-cleaning. You do not have to be affiliated with the Knights of Columbus to assist with this effort. The link will be updated every week! Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Volunteers needed to assist with Live-streaming Masses In the coming weeks we will have equipment in place that will enable us to live stream all Masses from our church building. We will need volunteers to operate the “control room” that manages the video streams and sends it to the internet. Training will be provided. If interested in helping with this new ministry, please contact our parish manager, Rudy Geisler, at [email protected] or contact the parish office for additional information.

Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! June 21, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! We wish all the Fathers in our parish a Blessed and Happy Father’s Day!
For all expecting Fathers, may God guide and protect you. For all deceased Fathers, my God grant you His Peace.
A PRAYER FOR FATHERS IN OUR LIVES
We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives.
Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and reality teaches us that some fathers excel
while others fail.
We ask for Your blessings for them all and forgiveness where it is needed.
This Father's Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and
families, and the ways--both big and small--they lift children to achieve dreams thought
beyond reach.
So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void when fathers pass early or
are absent; grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, pastors and
coaches and the women of our families.
For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the task of
parenting. Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.
In Your Holy name, O God, we pray.
Amen.

Order of Worship Entrance Chant • O GOD BEYOND ALL PRAISING
ⴕ INTRODUCTORY RITES
ⴕ THE LITURGY OF THE WORD First Reading • Jeremiah 20:10-13 Jeremiah said: “I hear the whisperings of many: ‘Terror on every side! Denounce! Let us denounce him!’ All those who were my friends are on the watch for any misstep of mine. ‘Perhaps he will be trapped; then we can prevail, and take our vengeance on him.’ But he Lord is with me, like a mighty champion: my persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph. In their failure they will be put to utter shame, to lasting, unforgettable confusion. O Lord of hosts, you who test the just, who probe mind and heart, let me witness the vengeance you take on them, for to you I have entrusted my cause. Sing to the Lord, praise the Lord, for he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!” The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm • R ̷ Lord, in your great love, answer me.
Singing at public Masses: We are told that singing is one of the easiest ways for transmission of the Corona Virus, since more air is pushed from our lungs in this action. We are asked to limit singing to only the Cantor, who is in the choir loft for the entire Mass, at a substantial distance from the congregation. Music is an integral part of the celebration of Mass and we know how much you look forward to participating in our sung worship. However, prudence demands that we limit the role of congregational singing for the present time. Instead, please sing with your heart, and enjoy the fine musical leadership that always comes from the choir loft!

Second Reading • Romans 5:12-15 Brothers and sisters: Through one man sin entered the world, and through sin, death, and thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned – for up to the time of the law, sin was in the world, though sin is not accounted when there is no law. But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the type of the one who was to come. But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ overflow for the many. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation • Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Gospel • Matthew 10:26-33
Jesus said to the Twelve: “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be
known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the
housetops. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one
who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of
them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge. Even all the hairs of your head are counted. So do
not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will
acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly
Father.” The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
ⴕ CONCLUDING RITE Prayer to Saint Michael: Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! June 21, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
A FAMILY ACT OF THANKSGIVING AFTER RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION
This prayer can be recited in your car, or on the way to your car, after your family receives Holy Communion, led by a designated member of the family:
O good Jesus, We thank You with all our hearts for giving us Yourself,
the Source of all graces, in Holy Communion. We thank You for all the blessings that we have received from You,
especially through the Holy Eucharist, in which You are ever present to console us
and to help us in our needs.
In thanksgiving of all Your favors, We offer You all that we are and have.
May Your Will be done in our family and through each of us now and forever.
Recited together: Jesus, receive this poor offering.
What can I give you? I give myself to You, that I may always serve You.
I give You my body, that it may be chaste and pure. I give You my soul, that it may be free from sin.
I give You my heart, that it may always love You. I give You every breath that I shall breathe, and especially my
last; I give You myself in life and in death, that I may be Yours
forever and glorify You eternally.
AMEN.
GREEN PHASE THE DISTRIBUTION OF
HOLY COMMUNION
As we enter the green phase, the diocese has given parishes the option to return the distribution of Holy Communion to the normal place in the Mass. We know that Mass means so much more when we can receive Holy Communion as our beautiful ritual intends, but we also want to make sure that everyone can stay healthy and be comfortable with the change.
With that in mind, we have decided that, beginning with Mass this weekend, we will restore the reception of Holy Communion according to the Roman Missal – during Mass. We will do so, keeping all the safety procedures of the last few weeks (social distancing and mask wearing while in line, and hand sanitization) in place.
Ushers will direct all those coming forward for Holy Communion in order to facilitate proper distancing. If you do not wish to receive Holy Communion, please proceed forward with the others in your pew and cross your hands over your chest as you approach the priest/seminarian indicating that you do not wish to receive Communion. Make sure that you bow in reverence to the Eucharist, during which the Priest or Seminarian may quietly ask God’s blessing upon you, and then you can return to your seat in the same sequence as others in your pew.
A few reminders for receiving Holy Communion:
When you approach the priest, make a reverential bow, and lower your mask.
If you are receiving in your hands, open them as widely as possible and try not to move them, so that the priest does not accidentally touch them. Consume the Eucharist, and replace your mask.
If you are receiving on the tongue, please make sure not to breathe on the priests hands or to close your mouth on his fingers. Please open your mouth as wide as possible and stick your tongue out, so that there is minimal risk of physical contact.
The priest will sanitize his hands anytime he feels any concern of a transmission of germs, and this is done for the safety of everyone present. Please return to your pews without touching any surfaces, so that you do not pick up any germs.
Once everyone in line has received, a priest or our seminarian will then give Holy Communion to those who have mobility issues, and then will go outside to offer Holy Communion to those awaiting the Sacrament in the portico area.
After the last person in church has received Holy Communion, there will be a period of silence so that everyone may “praise God in their hearts and pray to him” (The General Instruction of the Roman Missal, #45). After the recessional hymn, all worshippers will have to leave the church from the FRONT entrances under the direction of ushers, so that the sanitization process can immediately begin. It is not possible to congregate inside the church at this time. If the priest is still outside under the portico distributing Holy Communion, please do not engage him in conversation, as the Eucharist is still present.
Finally, the narthex is not available during Mass, even for families with children, and bathrooms are available only for emergencies. If your family wishes to attend Mass, but would have difficulty staying in your pew, a good option would be to attend Mass in the parking lot by tuning your radio to 95.5FM, and receive Holy Communion under the portico. We thank you for your cooperation and we continue to look for ways to make you feel safe, comfortable, and also abide by our diocese’s directives for safety. God bless you!

In the School of the Holy Spirit Our Abiding Together women’s groups is doing a
special study of the book In the School of the Holy Spirit by Fr. Jacques Philippe (available on Amazon for $8.95 plus shipping). The study runs just like our usual weekly sessions, except we’re encouraged to read chapters from the book in advance. I say “encouraged” because
it’s not a requirement. You’ll still get plenty out of the podcast and discussion, even if you haven’t read the book. You can choose to participate at 11:30 AM or 7 PM each Thursday. We will listen to the hosts of the Abiding Together podcast talk about the book, then we’ll discuss our reactions, questions and thoughts in a small group. Hope you can participate! Saint Joseph Ministry Highlight Social Justice Committee
My name is Joel Santolla and I am serving as the contact person for the Social Justice Committee. My wife Annette and I have been parishioners at Saint Joseph since retiring in 2009 and moving to this area.
This small group was founded many years ago by Dr. James and Jane Daly. The purpose of the committee is to raise money for Morning Star Pregnancy Services, a pregnancy resource center that has 3 offices in our area and covers Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties. I am sure most of you have had the October experience of getting baby bottles after Mass and then returning them with checks, cash or coins inside. For quite a few years, Saint Joseph parish has been the top church as far as money raised and last year, Morning Star counted 600 babies that were born where the mother either wanted an abortion or was at least vulnerable to an abortion. I am also the Vice Chair of the Board at Morning Star. I am serving in both ministries because I was born to a 16-year-old unwed mother who thankfully did not abort me, but placed me for adoption. I was raised by a loving couple. As a result, I was able to meet my wife, have our children and now be involved with our granddaughters - all because that young girl, many years ago, made the type of life-sustaining choice that we encourage all mothers to make at Morning Star. Starting early this year, Frank Barrella, Tom Langan and I met with Father Rozman to express our hope to expand this ministry to a fuller Respect Life Ministry. While continuing the support to Morning Star, we would also like to include all areas of Respect Life as set out by the US Conference of Bishops. We took the early steps to set this up until Covid-19 occurred, and things were put on hold. As Catholics, the idea that all life is precious is part of our beliefs. I am sure that all of us see the number of babies lost to abortion as a tragedy. Who knows how many illnesses that could have been cured, the books and music that could have been written, all the prayers that were going to be answered by those babies that sadly never got to be born. We all wish someone would do something about this – maybe that someone is you! If you would have interest in participating in this effort, please contact me at 717-884-3457 (leave a message if I can’t answer) or by email me at [email protected]. Thanks and God Bless!
Jesus Christ is the answer to the biggest questions: What is Love? What is Life? Evangelization is your opportunity to share God’s invitation to the divine life with those you
love. Join us on Saturday morning as we go as we go “Into the Breach” a powerful 12-part Knights of Columbus series, inspired by Phoenix Bishop Thomas Olmsted. This online meeting format is free and open to everyone. Go to the Men’s Formation tab on our parish website:
https://stjosephmech.org/mens-formation. We start every Saturday morning at 6:15 AM and are done by 8AM. Contact Tony Devlin at [email protected] for information.
We wish a very Happy Father's Day to all of our fathers, grandfathers, and godfathers and to the men in our lives who have acted like fathers to us. May God bless them richly, and may they be showered with our love. We also lovingly remember our deceased fathers and pray that God has brought them into the joy of His heavenly kingdom.
The Saint Joseph School Community is sad to bid farewell to Mrs. Judy Neghiu,
our Health and Physical Education teacher. Mrs. Neghiu retired at the end of this school year. The month of June marks the culmination of her 40th year of
teaching, 36 of which were at SJS! Mrs. Neghiu touched the lives of so many students. We cannot thank her enough for the positive impact she made and for all the support she gave to the students and staff. We were indeed very blessed.
Mrs. Neghiu, we love you, and we will miss you. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts. We thank you
for your many years of service and wish you a truly happy retirement. God bless you always!
Employment Opportunity: Our Saint Joseph School Extended Day Program has an opening for a caregiver 2-3 afternoons per week from 2:15 to 5:30 PM. Responsibilities include playing with and helping children, assisting children with homework, helping to serve snack, cleaning up after snack, and other duties as required by the director. Applicants will need to complete or submit (done within the past 12 months) all necessary employee clearances and background checks along with a valid driver’s license. If you are interested in earning extra income while performing a very rewarding service, please email Linda Schneider :
