We cause heartache and anguish with our sinful, selfish, hurtful, angry behaviors toward each other. When

will it end? Graciously, at the time of death we will finally be free from our sinful nature that haunts us. But

the power is there to make holier choices even now. God help us to tap into that power.

C Those are frightening words for us. For the Scripture says that there is no one who

does good—not even one.

M “But for you who revere my name” the Lord continues, “the sun of righteousness will

rise with healing in its wings” (Malachi 4:1,2).

C How blessed we are to know the name of Christ Jesus, God’s Son, who has paid the

price for all our evil deeds!

M Brothers and sisters, as we approach our Savior and our Judge in worship, let’s openly

and honestly confess our sins, so that the sun of righteousness may rise on us with

healing in its wings.

All Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful, and that I have

disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed

to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity. But I

am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have

mercy on me, a sinner.

M God, our heavenly Father, has been merciful to us and has given his only Son to be the

atoning sacrifice for our sins. Therefore, as a called servant of Christ and by his authority,

to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a

As a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, so the Lord will separate the believers from the unbelievers

at the final judgement.

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious

throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from

another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and

the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take

and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a

thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or

sisters of mine, you did for me.’

CONFESSION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is,

NEW COMMUNION PROCEDURES

As more people are returning to in-person worship, we are taking steps to shorten the time it takes for

the distribution of the Lord’s Supper by having two lines for distribution at most of our services.

The church will be split in half. The two sections in front of the pulpit will receive Communion using the

table in front of the pulpit. The two sections in front of the lectern will receive Communion using the table

in front of the lectern.

Ushers will dismiss communicants from their pew; however, no one will be dismissed to the center

aisle.

The pulpit side will go to their left and use the aisle to the left of their pew to walk forward.

The lectern side will dismiss to their right and use the aisle to the right of their pew to walk

forward.

Communicants will wait in the aisle, socially distanced as indicated by the carpet circles. They will approach

the individual distributing the bread, receiving the bread in cupped hands. They will then move toward the

center of the church to the wine trays, pick up their wine and drink it as the distributor says, “Take and

drink, the blood of the Lord.” All will return to their pew using the center aisle. Following the distribution,

the pastor will pronounce the general blessing to the communicants.

Center in the lobby.

The Beating Heart of Faith

In the spring of 2018, we began an ambitious effort to tackle some very

large projects on our campus as well as provide a mission tithe for work

around the world. The logo reflected the beating heart of faith that

would be necessary for us to accomplish all that we had planned. This

fall we reached the $1 million goal!

A Facelift for a 60 Year Old

In 1958, as part of St. Paul’s Centennial

Celebration, the congregation built the

“Youth Center,” consisting of a gymnasium,

a fellowship hall, and several classrooms.

After 60 years, the Centennial Gym needed

a facelift. The picture at left captures much

of the $121,000 we spent remodeling this

facility.

As part of our Cool Million renovations,

the windows were replaced; the ceiling

finish which had yellowed over the years was removed and replaced; and the roof was re-shingled. You can

also see the ductwork. With the Centennial Gym air conditioned and renovated, it is an inviting facility for

year-round ministry activities.

Planning for the Future

Major maintenance items like the Centennial Gym projects had been put off for years. In the 2000s we

struggled to fully fund our operating expenses. Gradually over that decade we built up an operating fund

deficit of $265,000. In the 2010s, we focused on creating a balanced ministry plan and repaying that

accumulated internal debt. Maintenance was pushed off into the future.

Not only did your generous gifts fully fund the Cool Million projects, they have also erased that internal

debt of $265,000 as of the end of the past fiscal year (June 2020).

The Cool Million projects helped us catch up on nearly twenty years of deferred maintenance. There are

still major projects in the immediate future. For example, the 40-year-old HVAC in the church will be

replaced next spring at a cost of over $200,000, using monies in our major maintenance fund.

Our immediate facility planning goals are:

To fund a major maintenance line item in our yearly budget to maintain the beautiful campus our

Lord has graciously given us.

To seek special gifts to the Mortgage Fund to erase the $1.5 million mortgage on our 2010 addition

as soon as possible.

A COOL MILLION REACHES THE GOAL!

A Tithe to the Lord

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in

my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will

not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much

blessing that there will not be room enough to store it” (Malachi 3:10).

As we began A Cool Million, we trusted the Lord would supply our

needs. We put that trust into action by deciding in advance that we

would give 10% of our gifts to mission partners around the world.

Today, celebrate what our $30,000 Cool Million Tithe has done in

Costa Maya, Mexico.

A New Van

When St. Paul’s member, Dan Thiel, served in Costa Maya

for about a year, much of his time was spent trying to patch

together an old van that was vital to the ministry that

spreads out over 50 miles along the coast. The first $7500 of

our Cool Million tithe was matched by our sister

congregation, Bloomington Lutheran in Minnesota. That

$15,000 was used to buy a new van. Here is a pre-COVID

picture of the children excited to participate in the ministry!

ceremony on November 8, 2020. Jack Dylan Fults, born March 19, 2020, son of Jeffrey and Grace (nee

Viera) Fults, will be baptized on Sunday, November 8 in a private ceremony. May God bless Frederick,

Johnathan, and Jack in their baptismal faith all their days.

FUNERALS

Sandra Miller, born January 25, 1947, entered eternal peace with her Savior on October 29, 2020. The

visitation and funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 10. The visitation is scheduled for 10:00 am until noon with the funeral immediately following.

Dean Wise, born August 14, 1940, entered eternal peace with his Savior on October 29, 2020.

Funeral arrangements were pending at the time of this printing.

LUTHERAN MILITARY SUPPORT GROUP

On Wednesday, November 11, our nation will celebrate Veterans Day, a special day set aside annually

to honor all men and women who currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Our church body’s Lutheran Military Support Group exists to provide active duty support, veteran

support, and military family support for our service men and women. The LMSG holds a fundraiser

twice a year. This fundraiser helps our active, reserve, and guardsman, from all the services: Army,

Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the newest Space Force. Please go to

Read. Numbers 20:1-13, 33:37-39 and Deuteronomy 32:48-52. Ponder Moses’ sin at the waters of Meribah. Consider God’s response. Revisit Moses’ death and when he may have written the

words of Psalm 90.

Call a Christian Friend. Plan coffee over FaceTime. Have a “heart-to-heart” about each other’s

life plans while discussing Psalm 90:17. How will YOU spend your days before the LORD calls you

home? How do YOU plan to “invest in what lasts?” Make a list.

Plan to Grow In the Gift of Prayer. Create a daily prayer list about future goals as appropriate. Can you pray daily for a godly spouse…godly companionship…the faithful use of your God-given

gifts? For challenges in life that will help you grow in your faith?
