I was sent to Cupertino California to train managers and technicians from all over the world and retained interest with global conference calls to address questions and concerns on a regular basis. After the successful implementation of this strategy several Apple metric scores increased in the areas of customer service and employee job satisfaction. Along with developing my teams and myself, I became an ACMT (Apple Certified Mechanical Technician). I am legally permitted to open and repair all/any of Apple’s technology. I am trained and certified to diagnose, replace parts, set up, and maintain any Apple technology. Apple taught me a great deal. I polished and enhanced many skills under the direction of a truly admirable leadership team at the time while developing my own unique and approachable leadership style. These skills are valuable tools that I look forward to utilizing in my future professional endeavours.

After Apple I returned to Earls where my work life began while in High School in Winnipeg. My 12 year history with Earls, began as a dishwasher and progressed to a kitchen manager. My attention to detail, the relationships I built with my peers and my ability to remain calm under extreme pressure were instrumental to my success and advancement. I, then, became a server before moving to Edmonton where I was promoted to General Manager. This position afforded me valuable experience in running a restaurant from top to bottom including operating, liquor and labor costs, employee satisfaction and effective management in all these areas.

I have a strong passion for the restaurant industry and that busy atmosphere. Upon returning to Winnipeg, I was hired in a term position at Earls to help implement a new procedure and strategy related to kitchen Profit and Loss reports, efficiency, team morale and development. I identified a number of future leaders and worked with this handpicked team in various areas such as people skills, business acumen, leading/training and process management. After my term, many of these individuals had either moved up into higher positions or moved into other stores to implement the same processes elsewhere. Profit and Loss in the kitchen was my key area to positively impact. I created an updated, streamlined order guide that made ordering easy and curbed excess spending. This significantly improved profit within the first three weeks and was maintained throughout my term. Overall, I had a positive experience and impact on Earls and the teams that I worked with during my term.

Earls added value to my skill set over several years and taught me how to develop and implement complex procedures that involve training staff, developing menu items , working with chefs, vendors and suppliers to set up new menu items and improve existing menu items.

Trader Publications

Winnipeg - 2003-2008Production Manager & Graphic Designer

I was hired on at Trader Publications as an entry level Graphic Designer. As a designer it was my job to interact with customers and customer reps to build ads for all our publications. These ads had to maintain strict guidelines such as size, color, font style and bleed/cut marks for our full page and cover designs. It was during this process that I took an interest in the production side of the business. My meticulous eye for detail and customer service skills helped get me promoted into a Production Manager position.

I spent just over 3 years supervising the Graphic Design and Typesetting Departments. I gained valuable knowledge in post production guidelines, production printing and following strict production deadlines to produce every weekly magazine on schedule. Touring our print production facilities was a monthly routine. Color plate separation for the large printing presses and paper weight issues were just a few regular conversations we would have.

Working for Trader Publications taught me all the ins and outs of producing a magazine. It gave me a new understanding to pressure deadlines and making sure that deadlines were met. I was personally responsible for producing 6 weekly magazines and 1 monthly.

I completed formal training to become a graphic designer in 2001 at Winnipeg Technical College. I am completely fluent in all design programs in the market. I am very creative and passionate about design (specifically typography) and do maintain some clients around Canada and the USA. I have designed everything from web ads to full city bus vehicle wraps. My attention to detail and complete program knowledge makes me extremely efficient and quick. I am the designer that works closely and attentively with customers to get their company’s vision out to the rest of the world, the way they see it.
