RVC design
• The support for the Lock flange is not yet designed. seems not to be needed • The route of He gas for leak check will be incorporated in RVC. will be done during the
mechanical test

RVC production
The RVC housings forward and backward are under production and will be delivered end of September!

Laboratory test of RVC
• Mock-up parts other than RVC prepared by DESY • QCS vacuum vessel flange (stainless steel) production ongoing ready KW38 • QCS pipes (stainless steel) ready • QCS beam pipe flange (stain less steel) ready • Diffusion welding between stain less steel and CuCr1Zr for bellow beam pipe ongoing ready KW 40 • Stainless steel weld bellows delivered ( 5 pieces) • No RF-bridge ok • No BPM ok • Cooling channel with real dimension done • Stainless steel cover removed ok? • New cooling tube connection done • Stainless cooling tube ok • Helicoflex seal (Delta seal) delivered (32 pieces) • Rubber seal between the QCS vacuum vessel
flange and the QCS pipe (Viton) delivered (10 pieces)

RVC test setup
• QCS vacuum vessel flange (stainless steel) • QCS pipes (stainless steel) • QCS beam pipe flange (stain less steel) • Bellows pipe (CuCr1Zr )

Bellow pipe design (old)
welded pipe screwed pipe
CuCr1 CuCr1 stainless steel
welded joints CuCr to stainless steel
DESY can not provide the welding process between CuCr1 and stainless steel

Bellow pipe material CuCr changed to CuCr1Zr
We have to check and test carefully the difference of the material properties

Helicoflex seal (Delta seal)
• 32 pieces ordered for 110€ each • delivered • impact to CuCr1Zr has to be checked

Summary
• we will mount the RVCs into the test setups in beginning of October
• detailed mechanical tests will start in November
• vacuum tests will be performed in December
• detailed documentation will be provided to the 23rd B2GM
• open issues

RVC design
• RVCR include a mechanism to be used for an emergent extraction of VXD.
no real design work started !

Stainless Steel welded Bellows
welded bellows SUS316L ... bellows spring constant along the axis approx. 2.2N/mm
pressure: (inside) vacuum, (outside) atmospheric pressure
displacement along the axis: +/- 5mm perpendicular to the axis: 1mm
lifetime under constant pressure: 1 x 10^4 times

Issues around RVCR
• It is urgent to fix the route and to secure a space for cooling tubes. This will be discussed on May. • At present bellows tubes are assumed. • [C] Solid tube is recommended until it reaches QCS side. Bellows tube should be used thereafter. • Karsten will consider the route for the cooling pipes of bellows.
PXD and SVD input needed!

TOP BG
• By changing the material density of the bellows in front of QCS to a realistic one, the source of a gamma ray background in TOP shifted towards QCS. As a next step, actual amount of the material of RVC need to be incorporated in simulation.
• I have send drawings. • They are satisfied? • They are up to date?
