Smartphones, laptops, tablets and other mobile devices are connecting managers, employees, customers and partners in ways never before possible. For enterprises, the potential is enormous and exciting.

Given the mobile revolution, here are just some of the questions CIOs and other IT leaders must ask themselves:

    • How do we safely and securely allow workers to use mobile devices that we do not directly control?

    • How do we ensure that only authorized users can access corporate data and sys-tems from their mobile devices?

    • How do we do all this in a manner that is both cost effective and scalable?

Communications is another aspect of serving the mobile workforce. Essentially, this in-volves extending the corporate phone system — voicemail, caller ID, address books, in-stant messaging and more — to employees’ authorized mobile devices. Done right, this lets employees enjoy office-phone capabilities from anywhere in the world, on nearly any mobile device, and at any time.

Black Worx can help you serve the growing mobile workforce. Our Mobility Solutions provide a scalable, manageable, step-by-step approach to enabling relevant processes, people and assets. Our approach is based on preconfigured, proven technologies and process-transformation methodologies, so we can help you deliver significant financial benefits and achieve rapid results from your mobility investments.

    Mobility

Yet today, most mobile workforce solu-tions are still “piecemeal”. Point solutions are only partially managed. And they can create new challenges: costly duplica-tions of effort, high training requirements, and an expensive need for support, scal-ability and security.

Also, meeting the demands of today’s mobile workforce is far from simple. CIOs and other IT managers need to support

the full panoply of mobile devices while keeping their core IT systems safe, se-cure and compliant. Also needed are ap-proaches to providing mobile workers with seamless data access and capture using solutions that are intuitive, consistent and cost effective. As if that were not enough, today’s mobile systems also need to demonstrate real productivity gains and a solid return on investment (ROI).

    ENTERPRISE AGILITY

    Every organization needs agility.

An agile enterprise is one that senses changes in the marketplace

and responds efficiently and effectively to those changes in a

timely manner. Yet how an organization gains agility is another

    matter.

New systems, new business processes, even new ways of working

must be designed, invested in and implemented. Organizational

resistance to these changes must be identified and, to the degree

possible, overcome. Finally, the results of an agility effort must be

measured, and the tangible changes - if any - evaluated.

  • 8

IT lies at the heart of many enterprise agility efforts. That’s because the agile enterprise is collaborative. It has excellent communications among its myriad divisions and geographies. And it is expert at capturing, and making sense of, the information that matters.

At many enterprises, IT may need to first adopt an agility program of its own. Once IT is agile, it can supply new tools, technologiesand solutions that enable the agile enterprise, including:

    • Cloud Computing: Lets the organization add computing and storage capacity, change systems requirements, offer new applications and create business services faster than ever.

    • Collaboration Technology: Social media, wikis, mobile applications and other collaborative tools let employees share information quickly and efficiently. This empowers workers to manage change and can also spur innovation.

    • Application Portfolio Management: Helps CIOs determine which applications truly differentiate the enterprise. And shows which delivery models — traditional, SaaS, BPaaS, etc. — will bring the most value to the enterprise.

    • IT Outsourcing: Trusted third parties can help increase enterprise agility by providing fast ways to ramp up and ramp down computing and storage capacity, launch new applications, change system requirements and more.

Are you ready to gain enterprise agility, starting with agile IT?

    Black Worx can help

    Business Process Transformation

For organizations in nearly every area, creating efficient business operations can deliver key competitive and operational advantages. Many organizations find they can transform business processes by removing duplicate or unnecessary steps, automating as many processes as possible, and outsourcing noncritical functions to trusted third parties. As a key enabler of many business process transformation initiatives, IT allows new forms of collaboration, new ways of collecting and sharing information, and even new ways of thinking about that information.

IT at the heart of agility

  • 9

While IT has been driving business process transformation since at least the 1990s, the pace is now faster than ever. Back then, organizations began using the era’s new technologies, including workflow management, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and advanced databases. Today, organizations seeking business process transformation can turn to the new wave of mobile devices, social media, virtualization, cloud computing and the as a service model.

    These technologies let organizations:

    • Reduce the upfront time and costs associated with establishing and customizing a business-process platform.

    • Choose elements from the business process service continuum. For example, an organization can make its trade-off decisions among service environments that are customized vs. standardized ... dedicated vs. virtualized ... high-touch vs. straight-through ... longer to establish vs. quick to implement ... and higher cost vs. shared (lower) cost.

    • Move seamlessly from model to model whenever business needs or market conditions change.

    • Gain streamlined processes, services and systems.

    • Accelerate market entry. Faster, more-efficient business processes can lead to faster time to market.

    • Enjoy dramatic cost savings. Greater efficiencies mean less waste, higher productivity.

    • Improve customer satisfaction, thanks to all of the above.
