What is a run-on sentence?

A run-on sentence means two sentences

(independent clauses) are joinedincorrectly.

There are two kinds ofrun-ons!

1. Fused Sentence:Occurs when two sentences areincorrectly joined without punctuation.

Example: The economy has improvedmany people still do not have jobs.

2. Comma Splice:Occurs when two sentences are incorrectlyjoined with just a comma.

Example: The economy has improved,many people still do not have jobs.

1. Use a period to create 2 separatesentences.

3. Use a semicolon to connect ideas.
