Classroom Rules1. Be respectful and courteous to your teacher and

peers2. Bring all of your English materials to class each

Detention Policy• You will receive a

detention for the following infractions:– Eating/having food out

in class – Talking during a silent

day– Excessive tardies– Disrespectful behavior

• You will have one week to serve your detention from the date given. If you do not serve the detention, then it will result in an office referral.

• Detentions are held every day after school.

• You may also serve detention before school or at lunch, but by appointment only.

Three Strikes• The “three strikes” rule is back this semester!

• Anytime the class as a whole is being loud and/or disrespectful, the class will receive a strike.

• Get three strikes?—You’re silent until I tell you otherwise. Those who talk will receive a detention.

Tardy Policy• BE ON TIME to class!

This will help you avoid getting “locked out”

• The door will close when the late bell rings. If you are outside the door, you are late and will be marked as such.

Bathroom Passes• You will ONLY get 5 hall passes this semester. • Use them wisely, and don’t lose them.• I will not give you any more. I will not let you

out of my class without a pass.

Absent/ Make-Up Work Procedures

• It is YOUR responsibility to obtain your make-up work when you are absent. You have 2 days to make up your work for full credit.

• Please see the make-up work binder for your assignments– 9th Grade– Blue Binder– 11th Grade– Green Binder

Absent/ Make-Up Work Procedures• The front part of the binder

will have a log outlining what we did in class while you were absent.

• After you figure out what we did in class, go to the bins in the back of the room to pick up your missing handouts.

Late Work Policy• Students must submit assignment

on time in order to keep up with what is going on in class; however, accidents do happen. – First day late= 75%– After that=50%

• Late assignments must be submitted with the completed missing work log in the late work bin.

• These logs are kept with the late work bin

I will only grade late assignments TWICE this semester. Once at midterm, and again at the end of the semester.

English Binder--Changed• Your English Binder will

be EXTREMELY important this semester.

• STAY ORGANIZED!

• Notebook Checks count as a quiz grade. – Every 2 weeks

• 1/20—First check

You need:– A 3 ring binder– With 5 dividers

Dividers:1. Bellwork/Journals2. Reading Log3. Classwork/Homework4. Notes/Handouts5. Graded Work
