Breakin’ hearts, snappin’ necks, and chuggin’ bottle after bottle of scotch is all in a day’s work for Grant Canyon - the not-so-smooth talking detective who’s hot on the trail of… something. He’ll figure that out later. Because right now all you need to know is that No Tweed Too Tight – a hysterical assault of Kung Fu moves, bad facial hair, and unforgettable 70s-inspired action - will be offering double the hilarity at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on February 19 & 20, 2016! Strap yourself in and get ready for one hell of a ride, because things are about to get outrageous, offensive… and maybe a little hazy. No Tweed Too Tight follows the exploits of Grant Canyon; an intrepid (and intoxicated) insurance investigator determined to get to the bottom of a mysteriously baffling case… and the bottom of a few bottles of whatever he can get his hands on. Part Ron Burgundy, part Kojak, and all tweed-clad bravado, Canyon is a well-oiled mystery solving machine. And as his co-creator Ryan Gladstone reveals, he possesses another characteristic that makes No Tweed Too Tight such riot of slapstick, homicidal hilarity – a knack for finding trouble matched only by his unquenchable thirst. “The show has such a fun concept” Ryan says, “every scene begins with Canyon coming back to consciousness and having to figure out why he’s getting buried alive, or on an airplane with no pilots, or inside an anaconda or whatever. And then at the end of each scene he gets hit on the head and passes out, or drinks himself to oblivion – a habit that definitely pushes him into more and more ridiculous situations!” Unlike his blurry-eyed charms, Canyon’s ridiculousness has proven infectiousness, entertaining, and completely irresistible. Leaving a trail of howling audiences in his wake after sold out-runs of the Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Vancouver Fringe Festivals and earning heaps of praise from, CBC, The Georgia Straight, and more, Grant Canyon is storming across the Canadian comedy scene - and as Ryan says, his side-splitting appeal knows no bounds. “Canyon is kinda unlovable in so many ways… but people seem to love him anyways. I think it’s because he’s so oblivious, but is convinced he’s fighting for truth and justice. I won’t give much away, but there’s a scene where another character is like - ‘the cops are after you – they think you’re a killer!’ And he responds with ‘Ha! I’m the only one fighting for the good guys’. And it’s hilarious because he’s on a complete rampage and has killed like 20 people. The entire tone and character of the show is so unique that it draws different audiences in to experience our shows. No Tweed Too Tight is my kind of humour – I must have performed it over a hundred times now, but I’m still stifling laughter every time!” So make sure you don’t take sides with the bad guys when February 19 & 20 come around join Canyon for an inebriated investigation you’ll never forget!
