The NHF’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Council (MASAC) Transition Guidelines served as a foundation for content development. Each brochure is divided into two sections: • Graphic Story • Commentary V6 | 12-15 Years of Age Educational & Vocational Training: Prepare for the Journey Graphic Story: Mark uses his knowledge of computers to earn extra money. He explains to his friends that because of his hemophilia, it’s important to start early in planning a career to ensure insurance coverage for therapy. Commentary: Mark talks further about the importance of starting to explore interests and career options. Independent Healthcare Behaviors: Slide Into the Driver’s Seat Graphic Story: Mark hurts his knee while his parents are out for the evening. He calls his brother and tells him to come home so he’s not alone when he self-infuses. Commentary: Mark shares some of the ways he has learned to take charge of his hemophilia. Self-Advocacy & Self-Esteem: Drive With Confidence Graphic Story: Mark talks with a close friend about disclosing his hemophilia. Commentary: Mark discusses healthy attitudes for living with hemophilia, such as acceptance and confidence. See reverse side for V8:16-18 years of age
