IGNITION Sept 2013

We had our Monthly meeting at the RSA community club in Mosgiel on Tuesday 2

nd Sept.

Again a number of us had a meal prior to the meeting. As there was anoth-er meeting we were in the pool room & all agreed that this was the best venue, quiet & with a heat pump, nice & warm. It was suggested we hold the meetings there each time.

If you are intending to join us for the meal before next meeting please con-tact the host & let them know it for the Rover Party and they would be able to let you know how many others are attending.

Norman gave an update on the accommodation for the west coast run up to the next

ARCC rally next Easter.(info in newsletter).

I was a passenger in Normans car as the Tom-Cat, is the panel shop. I had a person

reverse into the driver’s door as it was parked when I was at work at the University.

Luckily for me they left a note & is covered by their insurance, as it needs the door

replaced.

While it is in the shop I am getting the rest of the car touched up and repainted,

original colour. Taking Photos during the process.

It should be all finished, hopefully, for Auto Spectacular.

I have been asked to give a reminder that some member’s subs have not been re-

ceived. The Account number #03 0905 0035654 00 and name is “Rover Car Club

Of Otago”.

Remember those who pay this way should also advise the treasurer, saves waiting

for a Bank statement to be received. That’s all for now,

DRIVE SAFE OUT THERE

Cars for Sale

1947 Rover. Has been garaged for over 30 years. Around 25 years ago it had an en-

gine recondition but has not been started for a very long time. It is in some state of

disarray. The dream had been to keep this car to restore in retirement years and to

hand down to the next generation, however due to unforseen circumstances we

are needed to move house and are unable to take the car with us. Contact 022 1730

Deanne Littlejohn (Wairarapa)1947

Rover P2 for sale, I have owned her

for 2 years, having bought her from

Waimak Classic Cars. She was com-

pletely mechanically reconditioned

between 2007 and 2010; motor, gear-

box, suspension and brakes, chrome

work, window and door rubbers,

gauges, "outwork" and headlining, with $17,000 spent.(have all the receipts). Over

$4,000 spent on re-tempered rear springs and rebuilt rear hydraulic shocks, removing

blistered roof paint and surface rust and repainting roof, reconditioned wiper motor

and regular servicing.(have all the receipts).Front springs and shocks are fine. WOF

valid to Oct 2013 and Rego to Dec 2013.

Her 6 cylinders and 16HP are sufficient to get her up passes with ease, and she hums

along at 50mph, and I have driven her all over the Coromandel, where we live, and

down to Hamilton, without any problems. She starts first time, even after 2 months

hibernation, and uses no oil, but there is some slight leakage from the gearbox/motor

seal. I'm looking at $28,000 to break even. John Jardine, 07 864 8644 . (Waikato)

1963 Rover P5 3 Litre Mk II Automatic. Old English White with red interior.

Overall a sound car needing a restoration - taken off the road a number of

years ago due to miss and dropped valve. Stored in carport with aim of putting

back on the road but too many projects. Even though it is an awesome car to

drive, now need the space. Needs a paint and interior doing up but is too good to

wreck or end up banger racing/demolition derby. We would love to see this car

go to a good home - price is negotiable (the good home is the key). Contact
