CATÍ situate in 11 Km of Valltorta (village), 13 minutes by car, it has a special medieval
style, you can visit their special constructions, with stone arches and Gothic windows, the
most important are “La Lonja” or “Casa de la Vila”, la “Casa de los Miralles”, “Delme”, la
“Casa de los Monserrats” and the “Casa de la Plaza”.
The Gothic church in from s. XIV and the altarpiece is very famous, painted by Jacomart, in honor to St. Lorenzo and St. Pedro de Verona.
This village was declared a historical artistic town.

The history of ARES DEL MAESTRE begins in Prehistory, as evidenced the
exceptional paintings belonging to the Levantine cave Art., found in Remigia Cove. The
castle with Iberian remains, will be long in history an active element in the vicissitudes of

CULLA, municipality is located in Alto Maestrazgo, its origins are from the
prehistoric period, the cave paintings of “Barranc de Santa Maria and Covarxa” are a proof
of it, also the remains of the village Iberian del Castellar. It was controlled by the Muslim
until the beginning of eighteenth century. In the nineteenth century, during the Carlist wars
of the seven years the Culla castle was destroyed and devastated, leaving the actual image.
GASTRONOMY AND RESTAURANTS: The development is characterized by traditional ingredients like nuts, olive oil, black truffle,
mushroom, vegetables and wide variety of meats and cold meats. As a typical dishes we can

CABANES is situated 26km from Castellon de la Plana. We recommend in the
village the Roman Arch which is well preserved. Miravet Castle is very interesting situated
inside the Natural ParK where many bird species coexist such as the” canastera”, “the
aguilucho cenizo”, “the carricerin real”, also we can find endemic species such “the
gambeta”, “the fartet” or “the samaruc”.

MOUNTAINS, RIVERS AND CID TRIBUTES
Path: from Rubielos de Mora (Teruel) to Montanejos (Castellón).
Provinces: Teruel and Castellón. Kilómetres: 204,2 km Vehícle: 2 days (1 night).
This is a journey of cultural value and environmental beauty in the unique natural area of
the Maestrazgo mountain range. You will pass through villages and medieval sites of great
historical interest, some of which relate directly or indirectly to the historic El Cid. The tour
with a clear medieval flavor, leaves Rubielos de Mora (Teruel) to continue by Villafranca del
Cid to the Maestrazgo of Castellon, arriving back in Onda city, whose Muslim leaders paid
tribute to the Cid, and from there back to the main road by the sites of Montanejos.
CYCLISTS: The route can be done in 5 days (approx 40km/day). It is not an easy
cycling tour, with steep slopes both upstream and downstream, uneven roads and some
sections without verges. On the other hand, two reasons to include a cyclist option are, on
one hand the beauty of the landscape through which the route passes, and the uniqueness
and interest of the localities; and secondly the fact that many cyclists enjoy the challenge of
these difficulties. In any case before you begin any of these tours you must seek information
about possible alternatives, taking into account your personal strength -- you must be in

RUTA Nº 9 TE RECOMENDAMOS VISITAR:
(ALCOCEBRE – ZORITA)

ZORITA, was founded by the Arabs in an area of the upper part of town called "the
Castle". Subsequently, it was conquered by James I becoming village of Morella and over
time independent people.
Today its economy depends primarily on livestock and agriculture.
RECOMMEND THAT KNOW PLACES
PARISH CHURCH. Data from the mid-eighteenth with three naves, a transept and dome.
THE TOWN HALL. Data from 1679 and noted for its carved eaves.
REMAINS OF THE CASTLE. They consist of a large house with a simple yet striking façade
of the fourteenth century.
SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF THE BALMA. It is one of the most interesting of all the
Valencian Community. It is 3 miles north of town, on the banks of the river Bergantes Balma
the name refers to a kind of elongated concavity produced by erosion, as the sanctuary is
embedded in said concavity, a vast stony mass that seems to be collapsing on Bergantes
riverbed.

Barranco de la Mare de Deu, next to Ravine "L` Ensalat ".
• Beana TOWER AND TOWER COLOMER. Are located a few kilometers south of Zorita. Two
farmhouses which intervened vestiges of the old defensive buildings although quite
damaged by the wind.
• MASÍA "Vila". Call the Playa del Maestrazgo.
• FARMHOUSE PLANENC CAVE.
• BROWN NARROW RAVINE.
