NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S

Bonnyrigg White Eagles will be out to score three valuable points when they host

Wollongong Wolves on Saturday.

Bonnyrigg succumbed to their second straight loss in as many weeks last week with Sutherland Sharks claiming a 2-1 victory however did come up with a point in its round 14 rescheduled fixture against Blacktown City on Wednesday evening thanks to a goal from Jaewok Woo.

This was following the departure of long serving coach Brian ‘Bomber’ Brown that rocked the NPL NSW Men’s competition with the club decided to give Milan Susak the head coach role in the interim.

Their opponents Wollongong come into the match on the back of a 3-1 loss at home to Sydney United 58.

Skipper Ray Miller will be the man calling the shots for the White Eagles this weekend with their captain’s play through midfield key to their chances of ending their run of losses while James Chronopoulos will need to marshal his

troops in the backline alongside David Vrankovic who has been in good scoring form.

Wollongong will look to Brendan Griffin for a big contribution in this match with the midfielder the standout player in round 17.

Bonnyrigg needs a win to keep their slim finals hopes alive while Wollongong need a win to climb back into the top five.

Expect a tough contest with plenty on the line for both sides.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSSutherland Sharks 2- Bonnyrigg White Eagles 1 at Seymour Shaw

Sutherland Sharks have put space between themselves and the bottom of the table pack with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Bonnyrigg White Eagles at Seymour Shaw.

Nicholas Olsen marked his return to the Sharks starting line-up with a well taken second goal for the home side after captain Jacob Tratt thumped home a 19th minute header.

The Sharks held off a late flurry in a tense second half to record their first victory in a month.

For Bonnyrigg White Eagles, besides David Vrankovic’s header that sparked a revival in the second half, they were unable to create much pressure on the Sharks goal. Experienced midfielder Raymond Miller was a standout as the White Eagles face a tough task to stave off relegation.

Wollongong Wolves 1 – Sydney United 58 3 at WIN Stadium

Two goals in the final five minutes has helped Sydney United 58 to a dramatic 3-1 victory against Wollongong Wolves at WIN Stadium on Sunday.

It was a frantic end to the match as Goals in the 86th and 90th minute to substitutes Patrick Antelmi and Sam Perre wrapped up the three points for the visitors and their third win in as many games.

For the Wolves, it was a frustrating afternoon at the office, with the side creating numerous chances but failing to take them and were punished as a result.

The victory maintains United 58’s hold on third position on the ladder one point ahead Blacktown City who have a game in hand.

The hosts would open the scoring in the 18th minute after a strong start.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEWBonnyrigg White Eagles suffered a heavy

defeat at Seymour Shaw last weekend, going down 4-1 to competition leaders Sutherland Sharks a week after an impressive draw with Sydney FC.

After a fortnight of fixtures against the top two teams, Bonnyrigg will welcome the chance to close the gap on Wollongong Wolves to four points, and with a game in hand might still fancy their odds of sneaking into the finals.

The Wolves were held to a scoreless draw by Sydney United 58 in Round 17, a result that leaves the door open for United, Manly and Bonnyrigg below them to mount a challenge in the final weeks of the regular season. Bonnryigg and Wollongong produced a 0-0 draw of their own when they met in this fixture at WIN Stadium back in April.
