MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT GOVERNOR.
The Dynamics of Indo Pak-Relations, Kashmir and Beyond06-01-2017
There are a lot of issues that affect us and our country. For
understanding these dynamics it is necessary to understand
history. That is exactly what was done at this weekly meeting
when history came alive with Rtn. Manish Kachhy who
explained with audios, videos, facts and figures complicated
interwoven history and how and why and whom the affects. A
beautiful talk.
The Arcot carried out a small skit at The Upvan Festival where
Prs. Mitali, Madhavi, Sachin, Rajendra, Vilas spoke about what
is Rotary and how it functions. This was a PR activity to create
awareness about Rotary.
Times Sanskruti Arts Festival13-01-2017
The UpvanSanskriti Festival is one of the most loved events
with a lot of footfall at the Happening City of Thane. What
could be better place to promote Rotary than the Walk of Pride
inauguration seminar: Arcot Presidents ladies in red, males in
blue and also carried a huge banner. The best moment was
when the announcement of Rotary was cheered by the
thousands plus crowd. We all felt very proud when it was
mentioned that Rotary had contributed towards the
Planetarium visit for 2500 underprivileged school children and
that Rotary had contributed 1.5 lacs towards the festival.

MESSAGE FROM RI PRESIDENT.
Hello Friends,
So , the year 2016 is gone and we have ushered in 2017. Three months have breezed by. The first
six months consisted of projects which had a short visibility, but massive PR, massive involvement of
all club members, Arcot, District and huge participation from The Entire District 3142. They
highlighted the Presence of Rotary and moreso, the Presence of Rotary Club of Thane Midtown. Our
Club is now synonymous with these unique and big size projects. We sparkled and will be in the
memory of all those who were touched by these projects and events. From January onwards the focus has been on projects which are
much more sustainable, lasting and durable. They are more concentrated on a section, at times even on an individual and yet is
giving dignity, hope and self reliance to the recipients. Each project was monetarily of a sizable amount, yet centred round a small
segment and has given actual, physical change. Meetings, as usual have been a beauty and attendance has been soaring. Events have
been ...eventful and a treat. A very silent, solid, satisfying three months.

knowledge and interesting information from the point of view of
a youngster. Palash spoke about how engineering is used to
maintain environment. What is most important is garbage
management is an integral part here and young Palash was very
much aware of India and politics here. For once we had a
youngster who showed desire to come back and use knowledge
to serve the country.

14-02-2017 Infant Pediatric Heart Surgery
When we are born, all have tiny holes in their hearts. As we
start growing , the holes get repaired. But, all are not so lucky.
There are some infants , whose holes in the heart dont get
repaired and hence, they suffer a lot. Medical science comes to
the rescue of such tiny infants in the form of specialised
procedures called infant pediatric heart surgery. These are
specialized surgeries performed by specialized surgeons at
highly specialized hospitals. These procedures are extremely
costly and can doom the families of the patients. Rotary, certain
ngos, doctors themselves and even the hospitals come together
to give support to such infants. RCTSuburban, RCTPremium
have come up with a scheme where a club can join in by a
donation of Rs. 25,000/-. Rtn. Deven contributed Rs.
18,000/- and RCT Midtown contributed Rs. 7,000/- and have
donated Rs. 25,000/- for the operation of one such child.

Every person has tremendous potential. A person rarely is able
to realise his full potential. The reason is , we are surrounded by
many chavyoohas created by internal and external forces. What
is this Chakravyooha. What was its structure? How was it
created centuries ago in Mahabharat a? How this Chakravyooha

19-03-2017 Road Safety Project
Sunday morning was very pleasant for the residents of
Shivkrupanagar. Rotarians from RCTMidtown spent time with
them, distributed napkins, books, sweets, biscuits, soap,
toothbrush, toothpaste to the 100 plus kids of the area. A
project on Road Safety was also carried out at the site. The
road at Shivkrupa nagar is narrow and with houses on the sides.
Children play on the roads. Cars and bikes speed by and there
were accidents. So speed breakers were installed, not one but
three. These speed breakers were not marked and hence not
visible to drivers. Plus no one anticipates 3 speedbreakers on
one road. The speed breakers because of no markings were
causing harm to drivers and pedestrians. PP Jagdish and IPP
Suhas came together and carried out the entire project where
the speed breakers were painted and road safety provided.
Prs.Mitali, PE Vasanti and PP Jagdish and PP Milind spoke and
guided the residents and children.
Holi was celebrated with FAFDA JALEBI, flowers, Gulaal, games, eco friendly colors and great fellowship at YEOORLEY HILLS , Vasavda farms, Yeour hills thane.
12-03-2017 Holi Celebration was finally successful in restricting a person of the calibre of
Abhimanyu. All this was beautifully explained by means of a
PPT by Dr.Lucky Kasat to a spellbound audience. One of the
finest meetings till date.

RCT Midtown and RC Deonar conducted a Joint Meeting at
BPGC Chembur as an initiative towards sister pairing of club.
Sister pairing of Clubs happens when 2 clubs from 2 different
districts conduct at least 2 Joint Meetings, 2 Fellowships,
2 Joint Projects and 1 Joint District Grant or Global Grant
Project. Good experience with change of venue and good
fellowship.

28-03-2017 Swachhta Abhiyaan
We all wish each other a Happy Gudi Padwa. RCTMidtown actually gifted Happiness to Thane City by carrying out a very basic Swachhta Abhiyaan during the Shobha Yatra on Gokhale Road and Ram Maruti Road. Recyclable, sturdy made to order plastic containers donated by Rtn.Sri nivas were put up on footpaths. Each was fitted with a Huge garbage bag. Garbage bags were handed to each vehicle of the Yatra. Rotarians moved in the crowd holding Garbage bags gathering plastic glasses, bottles, paper plates, pamphlets. Rotarians physically picked up litter thrown on roads. By these planned acts no Garbage remained on roads even after such a huge yatra of 2000 plus crowd for 4 hours. Rotarians collected all the Garbage and the total was more than 20 huge Garbage Bags which were then handed over to the TMC cleaners.
