His committee will meet in the near future and have proposed new bylaws submitted to the Board at our September meeting. Public Relations - Jonah thanked Carl Dowden for doing the newsletter and Theresa Reed for doing the website and Facebook page while he was away in Alaska and Western Canada. Club Foundation - Bud reported that there is $17,000+ in the club foundation coffers and an additional $5,000+ in the Coleman Educational Fund. Service Committee - Rob spoke with Mike Fraser of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club about joining them in their senior citizen home repair project and expanding it to Red Hook. Rob will also contact the Red Hook Town Tree Committee about assisting with tree planting as it is the goal of RI President Ian Riseley to have every Rotarian in the world plant at least one tree during the Rotary year. Barry will contact the Village Tree Committee on the same topic. Bud mentioned that we can get free saplings from New York State. Club Schedule - the club schedule for the year was reviewed and revised. It will be reprinted in the newsletter. Board Meetings - the directors voted to have future board meetings at J&J’s at 7:30 a.m. on the dates which will be listed in the club schedule. New Meeting location - Murray’s of Tivoli - in general, club members seem to be satisfied with our new location.

We had our club business meeting and the following items were reported from our Board ofDirectors' meeting:

Road Signs - the directors voted to spend up to $50.00 for new signs around town indicting our newmeeting location. Bud will follow up on this.

Citizen of the Year - Carl reported that, as of this morning’s meeting, we had one nomination forCOTY. Jonah reported that copies of the nomination form are in Red Hook Town and Village Halls,and is on our website and Facebook page. In addition a press release was sent to the media.

Keeping Track of Volunteer Hours - RI President Ian Riseley and DG Jim Damiani would like usto keep track of all hours that each Rotarian spends on Rotary projects, whether it be on the club ordistrict level. Tim will ask for a volunteer to do this.

Service Projects - Tim is working on the WaterBox filtering system. The Liberty, New York, RotaryClub as a global grant related to clean water supply and we should look into partnering with them.

Theresa Reed suggested a service project with the Historical Society and libraries. Bud will followup with her.

Back Pack Program - directors voted to send a donation of $2,000.00. This program supplies foodfor poor students in the Red Hook Central Schools.

Interact Club - it was suggested that the High School Interact club invite the middle school studentsto an interact event to see what they can look forward to in the high school. Tim will talk with ourInteract advisors Carl Dowden and Linda Greenblatt about discussing this with the Interact club.

Baxter’s Bash - DG, future DG, AG and past DGs have been invited. The directors agreed to invitethe village mayors, village clerks, town supervisor and town clerks to Baxter’s Bash as club guests.Rev. Fred Cartier will be the grill master. Susan Simon has reserved the Rec Park for 4 p.m. onwardon Tuesday, August 29th.

Club Handbook - Tim suggested that we develop a club handbook for new and current members. The Millbrook club just did this. Tim will review what they have to use as a model.

Survey - Tim suggest that we conduct a survey of local organizations to see what service projectsare needed in the community. Rob suggested that we ask the Red Hook Police Department. Davesuggested reaching out on social media. The board will consider this in the future.

Goals - Tim recorded the club goals on the RI website.

Who will be Red Hook's Citizen of the Year?

Rotary Club of Red Hook is seeking nominations from the localcommunity for their Citizen of the Year. For the past 16 yearsRotary has honored a local resident for their contributions to ourcommunity. A candidate will have contributed unselfishly to thebetterment of our community, emulating Rotary’s motto “Serviceabove Self”.

Selection of the honoree will be made by Red Hook Rotary.Nomination forms are available at Red Hook Town Hall, RedHook Village Hall and Tivoli Village Hall. The form can bedownloaded from Red Hook Rotary’s website or Facebook page.
