Gil became aware of this tree during a 1996 road trip with his daughter and niece. They are located in the mountain range between Death Valley and Sequoia National Park, near Bishop California. The oldest is 4,725 years old and is called Methuselah. It was discovered by Edmund Shuman in 1957. These trees grow at a rate of about one inch every hundred years. They exist in extreme mountain weather systems, and can withstand winds of 110-160 mph, and temperatures of 40 below zero. Some scientists speculate that they could be immortal, given the right weather conditions. The tree is the Nevada State Tree. Gil has published a book on the tree, and all proceeds go to the protection of the tree. - Bill Zeller Reporter Is it the truth? • Is it fair to all concerned? • Will it build goodwill and better friendships? • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
