PARISH PICNIC Thank you to everyone who donated to the parish picnic, donated to the Chinese auction, attended the picnic, bought tickets, played games, and offered fel-lowship. We had 25 auction baskets worth over $1,100.00! Winners of prizes have been notified. Our successes are due to our generous community. Thank you once again. LEARNING TO LIVE WITH CHANGE On Tuesday, August 7th from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., St. Ignatius is sponsoring Life’s Transitions: Learn-ing to Live with Change in our Lives. This will be presented by Fr. Lou Papes and the cost is $45.00, with lunch included. Whether it is a transition related to work, a relationship, a move or another area of life, the unique gifts of being human—memory & imagination—invite us to “think outside the box.” To register contact 440-884-9300 or visit www.jrh-cleveland.org.

17TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 29, 2018

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, The Saint Mary Summer Picnic at Twinsburg Out-door Pool Pavilion was a big success. About 100 people attended, and the weather cooperated very nicely; not too hot and no rain! There were 25 raf-fles baskets worth around $1100 that were available to win, and the money tree, donated by Chuck Saint John, generated the most ticket sales with 175 tick-ets sold. The Lottery Ticket Tree that I donated gen-erated 137 tickets worth of interest. Julie and Ray Barchanowicz won the egg toss competition, the second time in three years! Of course there were many winners in Bingo, and Cornhole was a popu-lar game as well. If those parishioners who won baskets only want the contents of the basket and not the basket itself, please bring them back to the office so we can reuse them for future picnics. Thanks to all the volunteers who gave of their time, talent, and treasure to make the picnic a huge success! Mark your calendars, the Parish Picnic for Our Lady of Hope will be on Sun-day, August 19th on the grounds of Our Lady of Hope from noon until 4:00 p.m. This weekend up until August 3rd I will be travel-ling to Illinois to see my parents and older brother’s family. I normally see them over the 4th of July, but I wanted to be in the Bedford Parade again this year. My mom is actually moving to New Albany, Ohio, near Columbus, to a senior home. She is driving back with me from Illinois, and she will stay at the rectory in Bedford for about a week. She will come to all the Masses the weekend of August 4/5. Then I will drive her down to New Albany after all her fur-niture arrives at Wesley Woods. I pray that every-one who is travelling this summer has a safe and happy trip! Christ’s peace, Father Joe THIS WEEK AT SAINT MARY

RELIGIOUS STATUES As we prepare to finalize the sale of the school, the rectory, and the library, we will be moving the reli-gious statues from that side of the property. The statue of Mary on the corner of Union and Northfield will be moved to the corner of the church overlooking the parking lot. Right now there is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus close to that corner. The statue of Mary in front of the rectory will be moved next to the church door that leads into the choir area. The statue of Saint Therese next to the library overlooking Paul Street will be removed. That statue is made out of metal, and it was painted white. The white paint is peeling and the metal is seriously corroded. It will probably not survive the move. If any parishioner is interested in that statue, please call the rectory. Other-wise it will be donated to Catholic Cemeteries.
