World Championship5-6 October 2013

The second edition of the Straight Egyptian Arabian Horse World Championship took place the week-end of 5/6 October in Rome, sponsored by Al Waab Farm - Qatar.Before talking about the show, I would like you to consider the words “STRAIGHT EGYPTIAN ARABIAN HORSE”. These four words alone underline the importance and the re-sponsibility of the 4% of worldwide breeders who focus on bree-ding “in purity”. Importance, because without their hard work, their efforts and sacrifice to breed the most famous bloodlines in the world we would lose what is and has been the History of the Arabian Horse. Responsibility, because these horses carry a lot of history of International importance, so those who breed them are responsible for the continuity of the Straight Egyptian species. To make these words even more meaningful, this year the Or-ganizers had a very important guest of honor. A man who has

dedicated his life to Straight Egyptian horses and whose pre-sence on this occasion sealed with his emblematic figure the im-portance of taking part in such an important event: Dr. Hans Nagel, who also presented his latest book “The Straight Egyp-tian Arabian Horse”.This year, to make the venue even more special, another uni-que event was held: the “AL KHALEDIAH CUP”. Two pro-per races run over a distance of 1600 m. with a 40,000 Euro Jackpot (20,000 Euro for each race), sponsored by Al Khalediah and welcomed with great enthusiasm by the Hippo Group, the patron of the racecourse that hosted the venue. Their official spe-aker and entire staff were on hand. Arabian Horses in Italy, in Sardinia especially, are often used in racing, but holding two races on such an important occasion showed the versatility of Arabian horses. These wonderful horses entertained children and adults alike who enjoyed cheering wildly at the finish line.

I would like to thank - also on behalf of the Organizers - all the owners, breeders and riders of the 21 horses who took part in the races. I hope that next year the number of horses competing will be double. All this thanks to the tenacity and the hard work of Dr. Fran-cesco Santoro, the President of our Italian Association ANICA and his wife Serenella. They strongly believe and hope that this show is a good way of letting the whole world (that is going through a financial crisis) know how important it is and how some day breeding SE horses can lead to emotional and finan-cial rewards. For the good outcome of the venue, the whole staff made an amazing effort and a relaxed and tranquil atmosphe-re prevailed. Francesco and Serenella were strongly supported by a great team including by Mme. Christianne Chazel and her sister Mme. Dominik Briot, the untiring factotum secretary Dr. Laura Mascagna, the “voices” of Mr. Mike Ashmore and

Ms. Anna Scarpa. The music was chosen by Hassan Valsan and his wife Asya was in charge of the computer scoring. The Ring Master was Mr. Cristian Moschini, Mr. Marco Frezza was Ring Steward. The Disciplinary Committee was formed by Dr. Abdel Wahab Ben Ali Amira (Tunisia), Dr. Fa-brizio Bianchi, Dr. Giampiero Romagnoli and Dr. Francesco Zappulla who was in charge of doping checks. The International team of Judges was formed by Mr. Jaroslav Lacina (Czech Republic), Mr. Peter Gamlin (Great Britain), Mr. Raouf Abbas (Egypt), Mrs. Anna Norden (Sweden), Mr. Willi Poth (Germany), Mr. Fausto Scanzi (Italy) and Mr. Daniel Souppat (France).Despite the bad weather conditions that sent a few VIP tables flying before the show started (it only took the Staff a few mo-ments to fix everything) and delayed the starting time by a few hours, the whole venue took place in a very relaxed atmosphere. The scoring system used on this occasion was the Top Ten ranking system, according to which the first five qualified hor-ses of each category entered the final Championship. Here, we will only mention the first two horses of each category and will then leave you to the beautiful photos taken by the two official photographers of the show: Mrs. Nicoletta Abelli (Italy) and Ms. Danna Lindgard (Australia). The winner of the first category reserved for Futurity Fillies was “RANIA DEL GUADO” (Nil Del Guado X Fr Egyp-tian Princess), owned by Mr. Walter Betti (Italy). Second pla-ce was taken by “TRESOR AMINA” (Farhoud Al Shaqab X Ha Amira) owned by Mr. Domenico D’Onza. The win-ner of the second category, the Male Futurity, was TAJJ AL SHAQAB” (Al Adeed Al Shaqab X Nada Al Shaqab), owned by Al Shaqab Stud. “FATHI NUR” (Farhoud Al Shaqab X Pasha Kadeesha), owned by Nur Arabians, was second.Because of the large number of registrations, the Yearling Fil-lies category was divided into A & B. The winner of the Ye-arling Fillies A category was “D FOLAH” (Royal Colours X Df Faaiqs Farida), owned by Dubai Arabians Horse Stud. “AL JOHARA AL WAAB” (Ansata Selman X Al Angha Al Rayyan), owned by Al Waab Farm – Sheik Abdulla Bin Kha-led Al Thani, followed in second place.Yearling Fillies B category was taken by “SALSABEL ELALYA” (Ashhal Al Rayyan X Asrar Al Rayyan), owned by Al Waab Farm – Sheik Abdulla Bin Khaled Al Thani. “MARWA BT EL NOR” (Moudaar Bkv X El Nor Kinaa-ni), owned by Knaaneh Salah Kfar Yafia, followed in second place.The Yearling Colts category was also divided into A & B. The winner of the A category was “PSE AL RAKHAN” (Royal Colours X Pse Mistrez), owned by Prestige Straight Egyptian Mr. Pierre Groenen. “ BARIQ AL SHAQAB” (Al Adeed Al Shaqab X Wahayeb Al Shaqab), owned by Al Shaqab Stud, came second. The Yearling Colts B category was taken by “KAYS AL BAIDAA” (Jamil Al Rayyan X Kareemah Saqr) from Al Baidaa Stud. “MEN SHAH AL SABA” (Thaqib Al

Nasser), owned by Saba Arabians, Mr. Glenn North & Louisa Cordina, took second place.The Junior Mares category followed. The winner was “D’AA-JAA AL NAIF” (Al Adeed Al Shaqab X Mezna Al Rayyan) from Al Waab Farm – Sheik Abdulla Bin Khaled Al Thani. “LOUBANA” (Laheeb X Bint Karjma), owned by Taha Sa-lah, followed in second place. The Senior Mare category was taken by “AJMAL FARASHA” (Ashhal Al Rayyan X Classic Farida) from Al Waab Farm – Sheik Abdulla Bin Khaled Al Thani. Second place was taken by “EL SAYYEDA” (Imperial Barez X Helala), from Athbah Stud.The winner of the Junior Stallions category was “BARRAQ EL ALIYA” (Ashhal Al Rayyan X Asrar Al Rayyan) from Al Waab Farm – Sheik Abdulla Bin Khaled Al Thani. Second place went to “ABHA KAREEM” (Royal Colours X Rose Of Kariim), owned by Saud Bin Abdul Kareem Al Babtain.As always the last category was for Senior Stallions and the title was taken by “FAROUK SAQR” (Shaheen X Desperados Fancy), in great shape, owned by HRH Prince Saud Bin Sul-tan Bin Saud Al Saud – Al Mamlkah Farm. “HAYTHAM ALBADEIA” (Simeon Sharav X Galagel Al Badeia) from Al Badeia Stud, took second place.
