Sd - Smart Design Technology

The Sd Technology is a unique concept in processing shapes with complex contours. The shape is captured with the pattern recognition system on Alta XLd. The contour of the shape is captured regardless of the processing being performed by either the finishing wheel, or the drill bit. In the past, what had to be designed with drill holes or slots is now defined by the centering device. The frame, digitalized in Bezier Shape Data, can be transferred directly to the Alta Zd. LabConnect offers two features which will make the life of an optician easier and more effective. Bundling of all required data for a complete job from refraction to edging and Connection to a lens manufacturer for remote tracing or lens optimization.

Bundling of data A network in the optical business is getting more important since the number of captured data is increasing by the amount of digital devices. To reduce risks in sharing the valuable data between the different stations, like optometry, video centering and edging, LabConnect stores all data in one computer for further use. Every client is able to recall all data which is important for the next processing step.

Customer & frame data baseLabConnect offers a customer database and an internal frame database. Both can be combined to create a job to be processed. All data corresponding to one customer are recorded under customer data base. The Frame database includes standard shapes that are built in the LabConnect. In case the required shape is available no further tracing is needed for the lens geometry calculation.

Connection to lenses manufacturersLabConnect offers a direct connection to lens manufactu-rers catalogues. It is possible to order lenses directly via this interface in case the lens manufacturer is included in the database. The user can decide whether a lens should be edged remotely or just calculated according to the selected shape. There is also the option to share information to other lens manufacturers.
