Economic Implications of Road Accidents in India

Loses 3 percent of its GDP every year due to road traffic accidents,

over $58,000 million in

terms of value.

India is only behind Japan ($63,000 million) in terms of value, in the study covering 19 countries of the Asia-Pacific region, while in terms of GDP loss it comes behind Iran which is at 6 percent ($30,697 million).

DRINK–DRIVING ENFORCEMENT : THE FACTS Drinking alcohol and driving increases the risk of a road traffic crash

Above a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05 g/dl, the risk of road traffic crash increases dramatically.

Drink-driving laws should be based on a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit of no more than:

Blood alcohol concentration (BAC) g/dl

0.05g/dl for the general population 0.02g/dl for young or novice drivers

Road Crash risk

34 Strictly enforcing a drink-driving law can reduce the number of road deaths by 20%.
