COVER PHOTOLocated in Douglas, AZ, the Hotel Gadsden
(opened in 1907) was named for the Gadsden
Purchase. The stately five-story, 160-room hotel
became a home away from home for cattlemen,
ranchers, miners, and businessmen. The hotel was
leveled by fire and rebuilt in 1929. It's spacious
main lobby is majestically set with a solid white
Italian marble staircase and four soaring marble
columns. An authentic Tiffany & Co. stained glass
mural extends forty-two feet across one wall of
the massive mezzanine. The hotel's vaulted
stained glass skylights run the full length of the
lobby. A must see for your next trip to Douglas!

CREATIVE IDEA NIGHT
MONDAY, JANUARY 7TH @ 6P
POTLUCK CHANGING IT’S NAME!
The second Tuesday of the month has been known as potluck night. I
know there are a lot of great cooks in our park, as we have experienced
from the Rincon Bistro's! Bring your dish to share with your friends and
neighbors to the:
NEIGHBORHOOD FEAST, on Tuesday, January 8th @ 6P! Beverage
provided or bring your own. Don't forget your plates and utensils!
Though we sometimes have some for those who forget. Sign up in the
clubhouse with your favorite dish you would like to share. This will be
one great feast!
The meeting is after breakfast at approximately 9:30. It will be run similar
to what we had on the first Friday of the month (Coffee, donuts and
English Muffins are still offered every Friday morning beginning at 7:30,
along with announcements.) Split the pot will be offered as well.
We are hoping people that work M-F and late sleepers will be able to join
us on Saturday, January 5th @ 9A. New residents come meet your
neighbors. We want to meet you! This is a good way to start to get
involved!
I will have a sign-up sheet for an approximate count of people coming for
the mini breakfast and please stay to hear what's happening in Road
Runners.
Great opportunity to bring your ideas for events and hear what we would
like to plan for you in 2019! Pizza served 6-6:30 with an ice breaker game:
People Bingo. At approximately 6:30 we will start brainstorming but with
a little twist. If you have an idea to share with us you will receive a ticket
for 50 cents. The secretary will make note of your idea. The 50 cents goes in
the can and at the end of the evening there will be a drawing. The winning
ticket will receive 1/2 the money and the other half, that person will get to
choose what event to put that half towards. Looking forward to seeing you
there! There will be a sign-up sheet in the clubhouse so we can have
enough pizza or call me at 203-2424 if you are planning on attending.
Please, residents only and donations are always appreciated.
ROAD RUNNER GENERAL MEETING is moving to the first Saturday of
each month at 9A. We will be serving a mini breakfast of a RR McMuffin
(egg and cheese on an English muffin, you can have them separate if you
like) and coffee. Donations appreciated and maybe next month we can
add Canadian bacon.
VARIETY SHOW COMING IN MARCH
We are planning to have a variety show corresponding with a St.
Patrick's Day traditional dinner on March 16th. Instead of hiring a
band we want you to share your talent! It will be sort of like an open
mic night. More info coming in February.
JUKEBOX MUSIC
Management pays a fee for our jukebox every month and we are able
to play our favorite tunes from the selections for free. Thank you
management for this free service to hear music we all enjoy in our
clubhouse. Jeff Leslie has been the go to person for the guy that
changes out the CD's. We have tried to set up a request list in the past
but have not had that many responses. We will try this again by
having a sheet near the jukebox. We can change a half dozen or so
every 2 to 3 months. The sheet will be set up so that you are wanting to
take one out and replace it with something else. So two suggestions
are needed: one in and one out. Your name and number would be
helpful next to your selection in case Jeff needs to call you about the
choices. You will need to be specific to the name of a CD. Hopefully
new music is in there by the time this has gone to press as the music
has not been changed for over a year. We will then begin the New Year
with this new selection process. Thanks for your cooperation!
Looking for volunteers in 2019 for our activities/events coming up
such as St. Patty's Day Dinner and Variety Show, Rincon Olympics for
first week of April and Luau Cruise on April 6th. See Planning
Meeting for January 12th.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Nellie Webb
PLANNING MEETING
At about 10:30 we will move on to up-coming events such as
chairperson and volunteers needed to make our events successful.
The more volunteers we have will help make everything run smooth
and less work for all.
Many, in the park, do not have a PC/Internet service to keep informed
of the activities. Our community message boards served as a reminder
and any changes from what was printed in Rincon Views. Hopefully
we will be getting our boards back but in the event they are not up yet I
am willing to start a phone tree. If you would like to be on this list
please contact me at 203-2424. Please READ the newsletter as we have
so much to offer in our community. You don't want to miss out. If there
are too many on this list I would like a couple of volunteers to help
with some of the calls. Thanks, much appreciated! Thank you so much
for your future support!
GETTING THE WORD OUT
Road Runner President
Thank you in advance for your input and willingness to work
together.
On Saturday, January 12th @ 10A there will be a planning meeting for
future events and this will also include solutions for clubhouse table
set-up/take down/storage. We will start with table set-up at 10A. It
will be helpful if you can make a diagram of table arrangements that
work for your activity or if you need no tables as this affects you as
well. How many tables needed and how many usually attend your
activity. We need to have a solution that will work for everyone so
please come. We want a peaceful outcome so please come with a
willingness to help make this work.
NOTES FROM NELLIE

RINCON CARES RINCON CARES is planning on having a presentation by the
Final Exit Network at its April Meeting. The Final Exit Network is
a non-profit organization supporting the Human Right to Death
with Dignity. The program will explain the initial information
about the organization and its GOOD LIFE-GOOD DEATH-MY
CHOICE concept. At a later date, to be determined, there will be a
smaller group gathering for those interested in more information
and will include a question and answer session. It will be
necessary for those interested to sign-up as space is limited to a
more intimate number. Contact Judy Cameron 405-5788 to sign-
up or see the sign-up sheet in the Clubhouse.
RINCON BISTRODonna Dorland and Connie Leamond will be co-managing the
Rincon Bistro this year. We have met with the cooks and have the
first 6 months of meals covered. We now need to get other
committees established for this to work. We will put a sign-up
sheet in the club house for people to sign up for what they can help
with for this to work to everyone's benefit. Please look at the list
and sign up where you can help. We do not expect you to have to
work every time but to share in the work. This will also be posted
on Rincon Friends where you will be able to sign up as well.
Thank you for helping where you can!
