Hardened Properties:Dependingontheingredientsandproportionsofaconcretemixture,adecreaseincompressivestrengthmaybeexperiencedwithRheocrete222+admixture,typicallyintherangeof5to10percent.PleaseconsultyourBASFConstructionChemicalsrepresentativeforrecommendedconcretemixtureadjustmentspriortotheuseofRheocrete222+admixture.Otherhardenedpropertiesofconcretearenot significantly affected by the use of Rheocrete 222+ admixture.
Slump and Temperature Development:Rheocrete222+admixturehasnoeffectonslump or the temperature development profile of concrete.
Concrete-Steel Bond Strength:ConcretetosteelbondstrengthisnotaffectedbyRheocrete222+admixture.
GuidelinesforUseCorrosion-Inhibiting System:Inordertocontrolcorrosioninreinforcedconcrete,theACIBuildingCode318/318R(318M/318RM)requirescertaindesignconsiderations,suchaslimitingthewater-cementitiousmaterialsratio,providingadequateconcretecoveroverreinforcingsteelandlimitingtheinitialchlorideioncontentoftheconcrete.Additionally,constructionpracticesshouldbesuchthatadense,void-freeconcreteisobtained.
InadditiontotheelementsofgoodconcretepracticerequiredbytheACIBuildingCode,BASFConstructionChemicalsrecommendsacorrosion-inhibitingsystemthatinhibitscorrosionatmultiplelevelsformaximumprotection.
TheuseofRheocrete222+admixturerestrictstheingressofchloridesandmoistureandadditionallyslowstheonsetand rate of corrosion by forming a protective film on the reinforcingsteel.Additionalprotectioncanbeattainedthroughtheuseofahigh-rangewater-reducingadmixturesuchasGleniumadmixturetoprovideadequateplacabilityandconsolidationatlowwater-cementitiousmaterialsratiosand/ortheuseofRheomacSFsilicafumeadmixturetofurtherreduceconcretepermeability.
Dosage:Rheocrete222+admixtureisrecommendedforuseatadosageof1gal/yd3ofconcrete(5L/m3)forallapplicationsandcorrosiveenvironments.
Rheocrete222+admixturedosedat1gal/yd3(5L/m3)isformulatedtoprovideoptimumcorrosionprotectionofreinforcedconcretestructuresinseverecorrosiveenvironments,and,thereforeprovidesexcellentcorrosionprotectioninlessseverecorrosionenvironmentsaswell.
Rheocrete222+admixtureisrecommendedforuseatasingledosageinordertoeliminatetheconfusionanduncertaintiesrelatedtodeterminingtheseverityofacorrosiveenvironmentandpredictingthechlorideexposureofthestructure.
Mixing:Rheocrete222+admixturemaybeaddedwithconcretebatchwater.Itshouldnotbemixedwithanyotheradmixturespriortobeingintroducedintotheconcretemixer.Depending on local materials, mixing efficiency and other conditions,theuseofthisadmixturemayrequirechangesinnormalbatchingprocedurestofacilitateairentrainment.
ProductNotesCorrosivity Non-Chloride, Non-Corrosive:Rheocrete222+admixtureisacorrosion-inhibitingadmixtureandwillneitherinitiatenorpromotecorrosionofreinforcingandprestressingsteelembeddedinconcrete,orofgalvanizedsteel floor and roof systems. Neither calcium chloride nor otherchloride-basedingredientsareusedinthemanufactureofRheocrete222+admixture.
StorageandHandlingStorage Temperature:Storeatambienttemperaturesabove35F(2C)butnotexceeding125F(52C).PrecautionsshouldbetakentoprotectRheocrete222+admixturefromfreezing.Ifproductfreezes,thawandreconstitutebymildmechanicalagitation.Do not use pressurized air for agitation.
Shelf Life:Rheocrete222+admixturehasaminimumshelflifeof9months.Dependingonstorageconditions,theshelflifemaybegreaterthanstated.PleasecontactyourBASFConstructionChemicalsrepresentativeregardingsuitabilityforuseanddosagerecommendationsiftheshelflifeofRheocrete222+admixturehasbeenexceeded.
PackagingRheocrete222+admixtureisavailablein55gal(208L)drums,275gal(1040L)totes,andbybulkdelivery.
