From the Editor’s Desk by Doug Finch Hi everyone and welcome to this month’s edition of REVS, with the Roundup nearly upon us I look forward to seeing some great cars … or rather some pictures of cars as I won’t be able to go due to prior engagements . I am sure it will be a great weekend as always. You might have noticed I have been putting in random pictures of past club runs / trips throughout the newsletter to fill in odd gaps here and there … if you have some pics you would like to share feel free to send them to me and I will use them, please remember to include a description what/where/when they are though. Thanks to everyone that has contributed articles, stories and photos. Without you there would be no REV’S, but we are always looking for more interesting stories and/or articles for REVS. We will endeavour to reproduce all submissions faithfully, but might need to edit if required. Please let us know if there are any errors in articles or on address labels, apologies in advance if this occurs. Articles / ads are not necessarily pre sanctioned by the Executive Committee.
Closing date for submission of articles for October Revs by 20th
Septmber 2014.
Email submissions to: [email protected], or post to P.O. Box 3523, South Brisbane, Qld, 4101
Happy Cruising!
President’s Report by Shane Krueger All is on track for our show day on the 28
th September to again be
another successful event. Quite a few members have already
indicated their availability to help set up and do anything on the
day to make sure everything runs as smoothly as we can. Many
hands make light work, so if you are available let a committee
member know and we shall make sure there will be something for
you to do. Remember this is the biggest fundraiser for our club of
the year and brings together many like minded enthusiasts. Make
sure you get your entry form in A.S.A.P.
I wasn’t able to attend the club run to North Pine Dam on 17th
August due to family commitments, but the weather also played a hand in damping down the numbers that
attended the run. Those that did make the day did enjoy the eventual break in cloudy skies. Report later in
REVS and thanks to Maurie and Helen for the write up and photos.
There is no run in September due to the Roundup, so October will be the next date and Peter will have another
interesting trip to meander along to.
Remember that if you have not paid your yearly club subscription, it is now overdue, so make sure you contact
either Donna or John to rectify your membership.
Wheels to the ground.

North Pine Dam Club Run With the first ½ of the week-end drenched with rain, only 4 cars ventured out for the run on Sunday 17
th
August. Tony and Jill, and Kel and John in their FJ Utes, Maurie and Helen in Mauries FJ Sedan and Bob and
Marilyn in a” ring in” Pajero, towing Chucky.
We pulled out of the Warrago Highway truck stop right on 9am and stopped shortly after that for a “wee”break.
The sky turned from grey to blue and we pulled in at the picnic ground at White Cedar Picnic Ground for
morning tea. Plenty of home baked goodies – Lamingtons baked by Maurie, cakes baked by Marilyn and Tim
Tams baked by Kel.
After lots of Banjo Patterson we headed up the very steep and winding Mt Glorious Road and even steeper
down the other side toward Mt Samson.
Even though the instructions said to turn left – we turned right and found our lunch stop at North Pine Dam. A
great BBQ was served up and we didn’t need Chucky as there were great facilities and very clean barbecues at
the park. More of Banjo Patterson and Jill told us all about her “Wobbly Bits”.
So for those who didn’t brave the weather – you missed a great day.
Maurie and Helen

Run Policies and Etiquette….. by Donna Hinds / Les Ross
Run participants are:
1. To ensure that their vehicle has adequate fuel to reach the destination or the next planned fuel stop. Run
departures will not be delayed for those vehicles needing last minute fuel; there is always ample time
before departure time to refuel.
2. Urged to be on time for the commencement of the run, 8am for 8.30 means be there at 8am, have a chat,
refuel, go the toilet, get a coffee and be ready for the run coordinators instructions. Should a member be
running behind, or wishing to join the run en-route please contact the run coordinator long before run
commencement time.
3. Urged to keep together wherever possible, particularly in built up areas. The leader will pull over where
safe and wait for everyone to get through lights etc.
4. To keep a eye out for the vehicle behind and shall slow down or stop so they can catch up before taking
the next turn, if this is done then the Run Coordinator would slow, and if required stop.
5. Not permitted to overtake the designated run leader. However members may move about in the group,
overtaking when safe and legal.
6. To keep to approximately 50 meters behind the vehicle in front where safe and practical, this allows
other traffic room to pass and lets the driver in front know that you are having no problems.
7. Encouraged to remain with the group until the agreed point at the end of the event. This also applies to
static displays such as car shows etc.
8. Encouraged to carry a small portable UHF CB radio and set it to Channel 20. Such radios are relatively
inexpensive, and have ranges varying from around one to five kilometers. Have a spare set of batteries
in the glove box. They are invaluable and a medium by which to keep informed about what is going on,
and to let the group know if you have become separated or broken down. They are also very good in
areas where mobile phones do not work.
Run coordinators are:
1. To provide a drivers briefing prior to departure for the run.
2. To lead the run, keeping to approximately 10km/h under the speed limit where possible (slowing down
if vehicle behind is out of sight).
3. Provide the address of each stopping point, to allow those that may get lost the chance to catch up.

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, Inherit the family ranch.
Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble.
In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to
purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock.
Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, 'When I get there, if I
decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and
haul it home.'
The brunette arrives at the man's ranch, inspects the bull, and
decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it
for $599, no less. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to
send her sister a telegram to tell her the news. She walks into the
telegraph office, and says, 'I want to send a telegram to my sister
telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch
the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it
home.'
The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, and
then adds, it will cost 99 cents a word.' Well, after paying for the
bull, the brunette realizes that she'll only be able to send her
sister one word.
After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, 'I want you to
send her the word 'comfortable.'
The operator shakes his head. 'How is she ever going to know that you
want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here
to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word
'comfortable?'
You'll love this..........
The brunette explains, 'My sister's blonde. The word is big. She'll
read it very slowly.... 'Com-for-da-bul.'
WHEN THE MALE OF THE SPECIES JUST CAN'T STAND IT ANY MORE!
