Requirements:

44 wide fabric

1 ¼ - yard- Outside fabric

1 ¼ - yard- Inside fabric

1 - yard- Decor-Bond Craft Iron-on Backing 44” wide

3” piece of round elastic for buttons (optional)

2 buttons (optional)

Supplies needed:

All purpose thread to match fabric

Scissors & Rotary Cutter

Ruler

Pins

Sewing Machine & Iron

Read through entire pattern before starting to sew.

Remove all pins before sewing over them.

All seams are a ¼”.

Cutting Fabric for Reversible Summer Bag:

Cut 2- 18” x 20” outside fabric

Cut 2- 6 ½” x 20” outside fabric for pocket

Cut 1-4” x 20” outside fabric for strap

Cut 1- 4” x 17” outside fabric for strap

Cut 2- 18” x 20” inside fabric

Cut 2- 6 ½” x 20” inside fabric for pocket

Cut 1- 4” x 20” inside fabric for strap

Cut 1- 4” x 17” inside fabric for strap

Cut 4- 18” x 20” Decor -Bond Craft Iron-on Backing

(Interfacing)

Sewing Reversible Summer Bag:

1) Take the 4-18” x 20” fabric cuts and iron on the

Decor-Bond Craft Iron-on Backing, following

manufactures directions.

2) Cut out 3” x 3” square in each corner on one of the

20” sides. All 4 fabric cuts should look like the

second picture.

3) Take the 2 outside fabric pocket cuts, place right

sides together and sew a seam on a long side.

4) Topstitch the seam, 3 sides will have raw edges.

Sewing the Reversible Strap:

1) Take the 2-4” x 20” outside and inside fabric cuts.

2) Place them right sides together.

3) Take your cutting ruler and find the 45 degree cut

line (if you don’t have a 45 degree cut line, just cut

a line like the picture).

4) Make the cut, as long as the cut is at an angle that

will work out just fine.

5) Sew them together, leaving the straight edge

bottom open for turning. Turn right sides out.

6) Press and you have one strap done.

7) Take the 2 -4” x 17” fabric straps cuts, cut the 45

degree angle and sew them together the same

way as the 2- 4” x 20” fabric strap cuts. Turn right

sides out, press and topstitch.

Finishing the Reversible Summer Bag:

1) Place outside fabric cuts right sides together.

2) Sew both sides and the bottom of the bag.

3) At the corners match the seams and sew.

4) Turn right sides out.

5) Take the 2 inside fabric cuts, sew the side and

on the bottom leave a 3” opening for turning.

6) Leave wrong sides out.

7) Take one of your straps and center it on a side

seam of the outside bag (any size strap),

zigzag it in place, making sure the fabric is

right sides together.

8) Take the other strap and center on the other

seam, once again making sure right sides of

fabric are together and zigzag it in place.

9) Take the 3” piece of round elastic and center it

on the side that does not have the pocket, this

will be for a button closure, zigzag it in

place.(optional for closure)

10) Place the outside bag inside the bag that has

the 3” opening (right sides together). Matchseams, pin all around the top of the bag (make

sure your straps stay inside the bag and the

round elastic too) and sew all around the top.

11) Turn the bag right sides out through the 3”

opening.

12) Press all around the top seam.

13) Topstitch the top of the bag.

14) Right under the round elastic, sew your

buttons, one on the outside of the bag and one

on the inside of the bag.

15) Tie the strap and you are done!
