The contribution of this segment to Kajima Group’s financial performance is expected to grow. Kajima has expanded into India with the establishment of Kajima India Pvt. Ltd., (Kajima India), a local subsidiary over- seen by Kajima Overseas Asia Pte Ltd (KOA), the Company’s regional headquarters in Southeast Asia. Its first contract is an automobile plant project for Ford India. This project, Ford India’s second plant in the country, will see the construction of an integrated plant for automobile production with initial annual production capacity of 240,000 units on 186 hectares in Sanand, Gujarat. The plant will be built at a total cost of US$1.0 billion and production is scheduled to commence at the new factory in 2014. Kajima India is responsible for design and construction management work. Going forward, Kajima India will use this project as a springboard for developing business, pursuing mandates for design and construction management as well as construction work in projects that show- case Kajima’s technology and expertise. Kajima is also increasingly fielding inquiries from new markets outside of India. In regions where it already has a presence, Kajima is evaluating offering services beyond traditional construction and development work.
